Re: Civil War Doomsday Clock
Uhmm.... SF, when they say things like, "the US fought Germany and Japan during WW2", do you also interpret that to mean: "every single American fought every single German and every single Japanese"?
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

If the American Revolution were only fought by a “small minority”, they would have been hanged as traitors immediately.
There was general momentum in that direction before the first rebels started to agitate. Momentum built, and a movement started.
I won’t be one of the few starting it, but I’ll certainly help finish it, if it fits my ideals.
You want to start it, be my guest. But you won’t. This is just virtue larping.
It was a small minority. Read a fucking book.
Wow.
And this is why we should be teaching US history, so people like you don't get into power.
Population back then was about 3 Million. (estimated)
15 and 20% were Crown Loyalists. 300K to 400K.
80K were militia and continental army.
55K were privateers
1 in 20 died during the revolutionary war.
45% of the colonies supported the continental army.
For England, it was:
56K English Soldiers.
30K German mercenaries.

Re: Civil War Doomsday Clock
No?
But the vast majority of Americans supported the war.
What exactly does that have to do with the beginnings of a popular movement?

Re: Civil War Doomsday Clock
Do you actually believe that armies act and support themselves alone? Regardless of the support from the population?
Do you think they’d have survived fighting the other colonists AND the British?
