I think it would be much worse if we didn't have the Internet. The Internet might be the one thing that forestalls a civil war, honestly. It works as a kind of safety valve for our mutual animosity and (correct) feelings of powerless over the situation. If there were no Internet, people would see nothing but MSM AIDS and propaganda, but increasingly all know it's lies. They'd see their jobs being taken by pajeet H1B slaves or illegal immigrant cholos. The hatred between urban and rural would be fever pitch at this point.

And, while it is certainly true the Internet will play a pivotal role in the instigation of any civil war, it's not as if we'd avoid a civil war if the Internet were not around.
