Amazon wins the game, but the losers cheer.
(If they were leaving why start a big money campaign to repeal?)
They threatened to leave. City council called their bluff and passed the head tax. Then businesses (including Amazon) started putting together an effort to get it repealed. City council then backed off. At least that's the order of events as I understand them.
It appears Amazon didn't simply roll over and eat it like I assumed after the bill passed and they stayed.

Amazon used their money to influence laws in their favor. That used to be frowned upon on the DCF, not cheered.

Instead you want to take their money and use it for whatever you want, and you do not want them to have any influence over the process.
Does that about sums it up?

Me? I’m in Oregon, I’m just watching.
They didn’t want to pay the tax and they didn’t have the balls to move somewhere else like they bluffed, so they flooded money into the political system to get their way.

This fuck the one percent mentality is the death knell of a democracy. I hope you understand that. Turning democracy into a gang rape is a bad idea. If you want more gibs, raise taxes on everybody equally.

I don't buy that Seattle suddenly got stingy about spending tax payer dollars over this case. Not for a second.
Someone figured out their fraudulent spending would get aired out in court.

A crowd of thinkers clap and say, "it's good that people have said no to stealing money from other people only to throw it into the fire."

Liberals love to admit that they can be bought, easily. Seattle city council is a leftist wet dream yet just a little money in about a months time made them pull a 180, because of course they can be bought. Amazing admission.

You haven't called me a hack in this thread, yet, even though I've been actively posting in it. I never go against the Ds, so, let me have it. Point to my liberal hack post in this thread.

And you didn't in this thread. It's Seattle, it is a one party state. It was dems taxing dems. Some dems wanted to tax other dems. Other dems wanted not to tax other dems. Congrats you took the side of the dems with remnant math skills. You want a cookie?
