Citizen journalists have accused Obama of attempting to run a shadow government and maintain control of the direction of the country. I don't know if it goes that deep, but he's definitely breaking with centuries of US tradition for former US Presidents.
The American Tradition has been that when you leave office you quietly allow the new president to run the country and keep your opinions to yourself, and mostly stay out of politics............... Not Obama.
Inside Obama’s secret meetings with 2020 contenders
Barack Obama has in recent months met with at least nine prospective 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, including Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden and Deval Patrick, pulling them in for one-on-one sessions..............The meetings have been at Obama’s personal office on the third floor of the World Wildlife Fund building in D.C.’s West End neighborhood.
He’s(Obama) urged donors to contribute to the Democratic National Committee. And he’s been eager to bring in many of the people he sees as key players in grappling with the crisis the party is in, as well as leading it to whatever comes next. His staff is building out his plan to start endorsing and hitting the campaign trail in the fall, with an emphasis on down-ballot races.

A less flattering view of Obama's actions
Obama’s minions have positioned themselves throughout the media. James Clapper and John Brennan are almost daily presences on CNN and MSNBC. There is Susan Rice at Netflix, Ben Rhodes at NBC, Valerie Jarrett as a free-floater who works behind the scenes and soon, Barry himself will be a regular on Netflix. It’s a propaganda campaign being waged to condition Americans that what they are seeing is normal rather than something dangerous, radical and a threat to the Republic.

Shadow government.

Obama is shameless. He's had his turn. Yet he won't go away, like all other former presidents.
Instead he stays in Washington and is holding secret meetings for the purpose of political maneuvering.
Do you really think this should be the new tradition for American Presidents ?

Hard to speak about tradition, now that Trump has become the President. Do you expect him to "go away" after he's done?

Yup, for about 20 years...less with good behavior.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Trump is breaking many many century old traditions wrt presidential behavior. I have no issues with Obama working to help the Ds, though. If he's trying to be secret president, he should be charged.

However, Schenker’s argument isn’t entirely true – for years, former presidents have gone on to play a role in public life in some form or another. As Schenker himself points out, John Quincy Adams served in the House of Representatives for 17 years after he left the White House, and Martin Van Buren even ran for president again in 1844 and 1848 after his original term. More recently, according to an article by Alastair Gale in The Wall Street Journal, “former U.S. presidents have traveled to North Korea to secure the release of detained American citizens.” The article points to American citizen Kenneth Bae, who was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in North Korea for “unspecified hostile acts” last week, and says that former President Jimmy Carter is seeking a visit to North Korea in an effort to bring Bae back to the U.S. Gale also offers the example of former President Bill Clinton, who traveled to Pyongyang to retrieve American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee in 2009.

Based on what Obama is doing Trump should not go away. Instead of having the peaceful transfer of Power, Trump should immediately order the Intelligence Community to spy on Obama and his former staff members and Democrat hopefuls of 2020. Then we should put 'government informants' inside their campaigns, and start investigations on each of them.
Yeah, following the Obama model is gonna be AWESOME !

Good Points
Trump is completely different. Our first POTUS is no Government job prior to office. He really broke the glass ceiling.
All those examples seem to be former presidents that were very open about what they were doing. As I recall presidents like Carter worked with the Whitehouse. Obama is doing this in secret, which I don't like. If he was holding a press conference or giving and interview about what he was up to I'd be less suspicious. But Obama is the biggest user of Spies on Americans in our history so I'm very cautious with him.
Hell, he spied on Congress.

The irony is that he is too classy to reciprocate their behavior. Trump. Donald Trump is too classy to do what these leftists have been doing to him.
Let that one sink in.

Trump blew that tradition with the open hostility coming into office, and the name-calling ever since.
The ‘peaceful transfer of power’ depends on at least a semblance of decorum. If you end that tradition, it’s gone.
