It's actually the same thing. You replaced God with the Marxist dialectic. You still believe in creating a utopia on Earth as long as everybody follows the sacred plan. You still believe in sin in the puritan sense, you just call it privilege. You still believe in shunning and publicly punishing people for not following the sacred program. You still have this need to convert everybody else to follow the sacred program. You still believe that if people only followed the sacred program, society would become a utopia. You believe in a historical determinism in which there is some endpoint to history on this Earth, and everything is pre-ordained to follow a certain path. Your politics are essentially a kind of religion.

If the “sacred programs” hold contradictory and conflicting edicts it’s a bit of a stretch to call them the same.

If we’re using that level of abstraction, then every ideology is the same based on the fact that they’re all ideologies. Catholics are jihadist Sunnis, because they both believe in Monotheism and their “sacred programs” contain moral teachings required to achieve utopia.

I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that the people who still identify as Irish or Italian Americans are seen as “Yankees” outside the south. I don’t think ‘Yankee’ and picture Chris Christie (who is both Irish and Italian). It’s actually kind of funny to hear it when traveling - it’s like if you went to England and someone called you a Yankee.
