Video games are sports, now.

Illinois high schools start esports video gaming teams
DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - More than two dozen Illinois schools have started esports teams as the Illinois High School Association has recognized video gaming as an emerging high school sport.
Playing World of Warcraft is now considered an athletic activity. "Of course I workout! I sit on my ass playing games on Playstation for several hours a day!"

Does this make Monopoly a sport?
Why are all the Gods such vicious cunts? Where's the God of tits and wine?

The 21st Century is definitely different.

I'm not sure Motor Sports are sports. When I think of Sports I definitely box them into vigorous Athletic Competition. Which would rule out Horseshoes, Darts, Bowling, and Curling.

If you don't have to be in shape to do a particular activity, it's not a sport. Do you have to be in shape to drive a car?

You don't see fat curlers, though.

I think NASCAR fans and drivers will tell you doing 200 miles an hour for 500 miles is grueling physically and mentally. I would bet that Motocross riders are in as good as physical shape as just about any world class athlete.

On the other hand, all American Football players are considered athletes and you have certain positions, like linemen that have BMI's in excess of 30, perhaps 40. Hell, even QBs play later in life with a spare tire.

Fair points. I'm not sure where the line is, but video games aren't anywhere close to that line.

For a mere $20 dollars 'registration fee' they will send you this T shirt and you can consider yourself sponsored.

disregarding the qualifications for being considered a sport (is fishing a sport?), are we really going to pretend that competitive gaming isn't a thing?

Yeah, if your sitting on your ass all day eating Doritos in your moms basement, probably not a sport.

Yeah, catching fish shouldn't be a sport either.
