Well, Party didn't specifically state it, but saying, "the lot of 'em," tells me he's pointing fingers at a specific group. Sam Bee is nasty, but not because she's a democrat. It's related to her being an asshole. On that point, we agree.DBTrek wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 2:26 pmNo need to “show” the obvious. We’re talking about double standards for bad behavior and you immediately launch into some wrote “Republicans say bad things too” screed, then proceed to cite Republicans losing their jobs for milder offenses that what Bee said, or Glenn Beck drivel that doesn’t even rate on the “calling a presidential daughter a feckless cunt” scale.
So anxious are you to prove that “Republicans are bad too” that you never slow down to realize nobody said they weren’t. I’m just observing that apologies cover one side’s “bad” and not the other. Furthermore, the degree of bad doesn’t seem to matter - only the side you’re on when you apologize.

So Kath, where in your counter-example was the GOP staffer a hypocrite? Because that's what I said, "they" are a bunch of hypocrites. In Bees case for being such a #metoo defender when telling a woman to dress seductively for her dad.

Already the media is trying to hide it. Google news' front page has no mention of it. Rosanne was the top story for 2 days.

Bee is an asshole and a hypocrite. No argument from me. She may speak for some democrats, but not all.

lol wut?
I'm not a fan of either. I know you don't believe this, but it's not at all important to my well-being that you do.
I'll tell you that the current democratic party doesn't have very much in the way of redeeming qualities, but that was true for the republicans 10-ish years ago.
Neither party even pretends to care about this issues that are most important to me - corruption, waste in government, over-spending, protecting my constitutional rights.... Wedge issues are fun to debate, but they really are quite meaningless compared to the issues I care about. I don't really vote based on some politicians claim of stance on wedge issues.
In the current congress, Rand Paul is probably the one who comes closest to my views, but he caves in, too, so....

It can understand being offended by Sam Bee’s bit on this, but it is in no way anything like the Roseanne comment. Like Nick, I don’t think she should have apologized. It was a shocking, vulgar, and totally accurate (feckless) insult.
Roseanne’s comment was just deadass racist.
THIS was swearing. It wasn’t racist, or even sexist in the way it was used, and by who. Or in the specific context of a rich white mother calling out another rich white mother with a highest-level position in the administration posting about her beautiful safe baby in her arms *while* that same administration is perpetrating the unspeakably cruel, voluntary policy of forcibly separating infants and children from their asylum seeking parents. As a “disincentive”. And they’ll be put into foster care “or whatever”. And this is coming to the foreground just as we learn they keep losing 20% of the other brown children they are supposedly to be taking care of.
I agree the bit about her getting sexualized on purpose for her father is a rougher but is based on the very weird behavior ands quotes her lunatic father has repeatedly said about her. Himself. For years.

I see some progressive eagerly read the LA TImes "Bee was vulgar, not racist, so that's different" piece and fell into lockstep with that tune.
Nevermind that Roseanne, along with most of America, didn't even realize Valerie was black.
But you know, completely coincidental deadass racism, not even intended as a commentary on race, is still deadass racism in California.
The know-betters have spoken.
