This will be an opportunity for the players to demonstrate their resolve. I'm sure the same players will continue to kneel even with the fines in place. Right?

Jets boss breaks rank: I’ll pay the anthem fines
https://nypost.com/2018/05/23/jets-boss ... %20buttons

After the league announced a rule change Wednesday — saying players must either stand for the anthem or stay in the locker room while it is being played — Jets Chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson said the team would support players who might choose to kneel anyway, and not issue any team fines.
...
“I do not like imposing any club-specific rules,” he said. “If somebody (on the Jets) takes a knee, that fine will be borne by the organization, by me, not the players.

“I never want to put restrictions on the speech of our players. Do I prefer they stand? Of course. But I understand if they feel the need to protest. There are some big, complicated issues that we’re all struggling with, and our players are on the front lines.

“I don’t want to come down on them like a ton of bricks, and I won’t. There will be no club fines or suspensions or any sort of repercussions. If the team gets fined, that’s just something I’ll have to bear.”

Yeah, one possible outcome is we have games where the anthem plays and the teams just don't come out onto the field until it's over.

Damn, why haven't I thought of that with any of my employers and their stupid dress codes...

"Yeah, I came into the job in a wife-beater, shorts, and ratty sneakers... What are you gonna do about it? It's my free speech right to do whatever I feel justified in doing, in fact I'm gonna kneel during staff meetings too in protest against your stupid 'club-specific' business rules."

I'm sure they'd stick up for my 'resolve', right?

At least the players on the Jets have a direct method to stick it to the owners and coaching staff now.

“Oh, you’re not starting me next game? Cool. Imma sit down, get up and sit down again during the anthem then. Maybe three times. Cha-Ching, suckas. I dare you to not start me again ...”

I said they'd change the catch rule. I also said that they were using it to decide games. Both are still true.
Those things are incongruent and did not happen. You made no indication they would change shit, if as you say they are fixing games with it why would they change it?

First the commissioner was fixing games, now of course he wanted to change it. Goalpost moved. Listen it's ok. Your lies and outright bullshit talk is getting exposed all over this place. This is but a drop in the bucket. Just take your goalpost and move them on down the road to your next ass whopping.

I don't think the fine will work like that and this is actually a smart move. If a player wants to be an individual hes not hurting himself, he's hurting his team, he's hurting the locker room. The owner is putting himself with his locker room. It is a great morale move my prediction. First game the entire team kneels or doesnt leave the locker room. Owner pays the fine, makes a big show of it, and for the rest of the season, nothing.

Not his decision. As I’m sure you’re aware, the rule changes are voted on by owners.

And if you don’t think they were using that one to ‘put on a good show’, you’re even more naive than I thought.

He proposed the change stupid. Or is that all part of the conspiracy? Show what show? No one is talking about this, not sports talk, sports pages they are all talking about the anthem thing. Look at this thread? No one said or would have said a thing until I brought it up. Which killed your Original narrative so you had to pack up that Uhaul and move those goalpost. This is part of the usual life cycle of these things, change the rules, everybody hates them, a decade passes, change rules, repeat. God, anything not to have to take any responsibility. The bears suck because they are managed poorly, the Browns suck because they are managed poorly. There is no conspiracy, they suck. Suck it up and accept it.

Couldn’t agree more with those last two points.
