When facts back progressives into a corner they like to retreat to ignorance to “support” their argument.
“We don’t know what the homelessness would be if a billon dollars wasn’t squandered. Maybe it would’ve been even worse!!!”
Well, since we can never possibly know how alternative realities would pan out, seems like the best bet is to cut public spending altogether. Then, when leftists whine that everything has gone to shit, we’ll just hit them with their own “logic”:
“Hey, you say it’s bad now but it might have been even worse if we built roads. You never know!”
Every time you think the argument has reached apex stupidity ....
(And we actually do know how many of Seattle homeless are transplants, it’s about 13% if I remember - but why Google it when the next “argument from ignorance” is waiting in the wings?)

The public spending is out of control. It is only when you introduce a mannerbund of like minded individuals that any progress is made. I attribute the generous welfare policy of California to starting my path towards a life without needles only because through the state sponsored system, I found a voluntary mannerbund that willed me to be clean. People that succeeded in kicking addiction that gave back. All of this only happens under a specific set of circumstances tho. Opening it up to whoever is only going to drain your resources. The people that voluntarily sign up for a state check a month are not the ones paying into the rehab for people that want to rehab RUN BY WHITE PEOPLE

Sadly the head tax won’t even build enough affordable housing for all of our homeless transplants. Of course, it’ll probably go to low income families and not the homeless at all, effectively taking zero people off the street. Oh wait, I remember, their economic analyst told the Seattle City Council that the head tax will likely only act as a stopgap to the overspending they’ve already committed to and actually help nobody.
... which is why they have a new property tax in the works. Wonder how that will go. If only I had a Tarot deck...

Apex stupidity would be arguing that the 1300 transplanted homeless out of the 2.117 million King County population meant homeless services were a) not working, or b) causing homeless to flock to the area.
HAIL!
Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

From some residents of the Seattle Tent Mansion pitched on the sidewalk in front of the Space Needle:Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 1:43 pmApex stupidity would be arguing that the 1300 transplanted homeless out of the 2.117 million King County population meant homeless services were a) not working, or b) causing homeless to flock to the area.
Oh shit, HM - more facts refuting your feelings. Better go back to arguing from what "you don't know".... The encampment near Third Avenue and Broad Street has been dubbed the “Tent Mansion” by people passing by.
One of the people living there, Melissa Burns, said she and her boyfriend came to Seattle from West Virginia because “we appreciate Seattle's liberal vibe.”
Burns and her boyfriend were previously contacted by Seattle’s Navigation Team -- a group of outreach workers teamed with specially trained Seattle police -- last month when they lived a block away.
"We don't want to change our lifestyle to fit their requirements," she said . . .

I agree, there is no good (recent) counterfactual example... Because in order to determine said counterfactual you would have to "experiment with different things", such as reducing or eliminating services and seeing what the result was. Until you run the counterfactual experiment to get the data you don't really know if the correlation is a strong or weak one. It's hard to say on the correlation between population density and homelessness as well, we can't really control the population density very easily (unless you drive business out), but using the bird/cat analogy - animals will migrate out of areas of low resources (food generally) towards locations with better prospects (better hunting, plentiful food - or more "services" in the case of humans).Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 1:16 pmJD pointed out that we don't have a good counterfactual example of what the homeless increase would have been without the services. Without that, the relationship between the services and the homeless rates is just a correlation, and not a strong one, since homelessness and population density correlate pretty strongly irrespective of services. The point was ignored every time he made it, so I assume it will be ignored again.
As I said, both birds and cats (and other animals) will seek out locations with more food, will seek shelter (or in the case of birds good places to scavenge for nesting material) - or in simpler terms places that make their lives more comfortable ( "security" in terms of food/shelter).Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 1:16 pmOr, people aren't meaningfully different than cats or birds.
How are humans so different? Those are basic survival mechanisms for all creatures pretty much.
In fact I just watched a video a few days ago about how cats were good because they are excellent hunters that keep mice/rats/rabbits (that "breed like rabbits") at bay. One island off the coast of Australia they used as an example, people got upset that the cat population was killing a rare bird species on the island so they eliminated the cats entirely - within a few years the island was virtually devoid of vegetation, the bird population they were trying to "save" was almost wiped out (along with migratory penguins, turtles, etc) because the mice/rats ate everything in sight (including the turtle eggs)... You mess with such things at your peril.
