Maybe we shouldn't be too rough on "homeless" kids who've never held (or even had) a job against starvation.

. . . naw, fuck those guys. Their "caretakers" had no idea. :goteam: :drunk:

Things to Do in the Newly Free Bathrooms at Starbucks
Last month a couple of guys got kicked out of a Starbucks in Philly, and it proved that Starbucks is racist. Why? Because the two gentlemen are African-American. That's how it works: If something bad happens to a black person, it's always due to racism. There is no other possible explanation. Ever. That's why it's called racism. Duh!

. . .

None of this will make Starbucks any less racist, of course. Racism will never go away as long as white people are allowed to exist. But whether you're black, transracial (like me), female, transgender (like me), or otherwise part of a protected class, you can take advantage of Starbucks' half-hearted attempt at reparations. Starbucks is yours, anytime you want. Do with it as you will.

Just make sure to wash your hands when you're done.

Failed? If we're failing then everyone else is really really failing. Who on this globe is winning if not the citizens of the United States and other western Democracies?
And yet you cheer for government seizing private assets to waste in secrecy without accountability - which is a prominent feature of all the failed, corrupt, centrally planned economies that are not winning. Championing loser systems in winner nations doesn't make you a winner by association.
The money is to help the poor of Seattle. It will go to building/maintaining 900 affordable housing units. Where’s the secrecy? The council members will be up for re-election. Where’s the unaccountability?

The people of Seattle have expressed their terms and Amazon has agreed. Apparently the people of Seattle know the value of setting up shop in their city better than you do.

Why hasn't Oregon hired all these people to pump gas?

Amazon 'Questions' Its Growth In Seattle After City Passes Watered-Down Tax to Help Homeless
  • “We are disappointed by today’s City Council decision to introduce a tax on jobs,” Amazon said in a statement. “While we have resumed construction planning for Block 18, we remain very apprehensive about the future created by the council’s hostile approach and rhetoric toward larger businesses, which forces us to question our growth here.”

"Amazon has agreed"

JohnDonne measures agreement by the rate of speed with which a global corporation can vacate a city. If Amazon isn't gone tomorrow, they've "agreed" to Seattle's "deal".

That's skilled labor in Oregon, you fucking racist.

"Pumping gas" is no joke.

Let's do two or three years of state-funded training for potential applicants, and then we'll talk.

Okay, keep us updated about when Amazon decides to leave off constructing the building that they pretended they weren’t gonna build. Can’t be cheap, making buildings in cities they’re about to vacate.

Let's hear what the non gas pumper knows about construction contracts and backing out of million dollar deals.

We're waiting.

Not at all, I’m no expert like you fellas, just a simple Oregonian.

I’m just waiting for the update on Amazon leaving. They stopped constructing their building to see if the bill would pass, seems a weird thing to do, if they were just gonna keep building either way.

Seattlerella is the pretty one, Seattlerella wants to make sure Amazon is really a prince, get her that castle and shiet. Y’all be runnin with ya big feet and noses and bad teeth at the prince, bein like, “that bitch ain’t no thang, I’ll stuff my foot in that shoe!” Amazon be like, “nah, I’ll just give Seattlerella the castle.”

There might be contractual agreements/penalties that might well make it cheaper to continue and then just sell off or sub-lease the building out after completion, never actually occupying it themselves... Even while downsizing in said city and relocating offices to other areas. It's not always as black/white as you seem to make it out to be.

Or they could move existing employees out of leased properties they occupy now and move them into the new building, creating zero new jobs in Seattle while creating new jobs elsewhere.
