Been trying to update my avitar all night but can't get the pic I want down to 6kb.

Try making the size 90 pixels by 90 and save for web and devices (gif) if you have photoshop. It worked for me. 4K

I just opened mine with MSPaint and hit resize, then clicked pixels and did 90 for the larger number. Worked like a charm.
