Goodbye Hollywood, and Good Riddance

Post by Fife »

ALL YOUR HIERARCHIES ARE BELONG TO US

Hollywood is in a panic over digital entertainment on the Internet. With a host of lawsuits and regulatory actions--from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to the Grokster case--movie studios are doing everything they can to shut down file sharing. They say they're fighting piracy. But Hollywood has more to fear than pirates: you.

What do they fear? You. They fear YOU.

Meh, I would be more worry about companies like Disney, who after they complete the acquirement of most of FOX's entertainment branch (they just announced a deal with FOX that they will spend $52.4 billion to acquire literally everything from FOX but their news division, and live sports. They still need government approval but since Murdoch is on the up an up with the GOP people don't see this deal not being broke up like what the government did with the Time Warner/AT&T deal. Ah, corruption) will own something like 2/3s of the market.

Gee. What do you think the future is for independent filmmakers if Hollywood studios can just pay the cable companies to throttle content?

You stand for the free market like Stalin stood for human rights. Get over yourself already, you sell-out.

Hollywood isn't going anywhere. There are still some good movies that come out, but super hero movies continually break box office records, despite being stupid as fuck, the same way remakes do. If you watch these movies in theaters, it perpetuates this. The chinese have even lower standards when it comes to film than we do, if that's possible. Sadly, there is no end to these retarded ass comic book films because they are profitable. I'm actually more offended by the comic book films than the Hollywood rape scandals and what not. I think they are a worse crime against society tbh.

^above average superhero movie fan

Oh boy! I can't wait for the new Justice League movie! They will have new costumes and everything! Logan was soo good. It wasn't just another dumb super hero movie, it was different because it was rated R! Deadpool was so original too. I hate it when people come up with new stories and ideas for film. Let's just recycle the same half dozen ones we've been using for the last 20 years. They should make a superhero movie with the Rock in it! I love searching for the lowest common denominator and lowering it even more! I will watch anything!
