'It just mowed everybody down': Pedestrians hit by SUV in Melbourne CBD
Fourteen people have been injured, several of them critically, after pedestrians were mowed down by a car in peak hour in Melbourne's CBD in what police say was a "deliberate act".
A white SUV showed no sign of slowing as it hit people at the busy intersection of Flinders and Elizabeth streets about 4.40pm, including some waiting at a tram stop.
They say it's unclear whether it was a terrorist attack. hmmm. The two perps.
We may never know...

Some more info after the initial confusion has settled.
The driver of the car has been arrested by an off-duty male police officer. He is a 32-year-old Australian citizen of Afghan descent.
The driver was known to police in relation to minor traffic offences and a minor assault in 2010. Police say he was alone in the car.
The officer sustained shoulder and hand injuries during the arrest and has been conveyed to hospital. Acting commissioner Shane Patton said he was a sergeant and his actions during the incident were 'heroic'.
A 24-year-old man detained at the scene after he was seen filming the incident on a phone. He was also carrying a bag that contained knives. Police say it is probable he has no links to the incident.

The driver of an S.U.V. who plowed into a crowd on a busy Melbourne street on Thursday, injuring 19 people, was mentally ill, Australian officials said, describing the attack as a deliberate “act of evil” but not terrorism.
