You know how good the military can be at changing mindsets if the people in charge are the right people. I joined as someone who thought the Army and America was about peace, love and friendship with our natural Iraqi allies who just wanted to be free like us. I ran up against the combat culture, which was not that at all, and learned quick, fast, and in a hurry that I was in the business of brutality. I adapted fast.

Times were different, though, and the culture during the surge wasn't forever.

Don't know enough about it to be worried, and by the time he found out, it was too late.
