But it's vastly better, a handful of bandits and associates on the fringes of the empire get shaqed periodically, with practically no US casualties whatsoever, which historically Americans would have called "peace" not war, and yet here you are, blubbering on hysterically as if it was an Hiroshima every week.
When the President of the United States says (even though he wasn't President at the time) that he's going to target civilians, specifically, then there's a problem. I shouldn't even need to argue that the targeted killing of civilians is a problem. Why do I have to make this argument?

Then people are arguing that having principles like, "we shouldn't target civilians, we shouldn't torture" is a morally indefensible position. Like, what?

Having morals is a morally indefensible position. What the shit, guys.

Trump is just trolling the Bien Pensants, it's all part of keeping you in state of moral apoplexy in order for him to get attention and to exhaust the opposition, it's not really indicative of a shift in the general trend of warfare, warfare itself, particularly as waged by Americans, is more discriminate and humane than its ever been.

Here's a guy that can really say whatever he wants, and then walk it back because his entire base demands everyone else give him the benefit of the doubt on everything he says. I don't give him the benefit of the doubt, and from what I've seen I have good cause not to. The only thing stopping him from doing much of what he wants to do is our system, which hasn't been all that good at guarding its citizen's or other nation's civil or human rights.

You look back at history and say "Well, this is how good we have to be" and really, there's no ground floor there. We look back at history, and nothing is off limits to us if we're using that as a measure. I figure, we tried to build up our civilization instead of tearing it down. We should be better than we were yesterday.

Part of that is saying, "hey, while it may be convenient, there are things that as civilized people, we should not do."

LBJ killed 3 million people in Vietnam, and Barry Goldwater said that it wasn't enough and that America should actually use nuclear weapons on North Vietnam, but you're peeing your pants about Donald Trump?

Ridiculous, you're just an hysterical panty waist, people on the right are so sick of you lefties and your constant blubbering, that we're not just giving Trump the benefit of the doubt, we're howling with glee, the only way you could disappoint us, would be to ignore Trump completely, but since you can't help yourselves but feed the troll, this is without a doubt the funnest Administration evah.

Big Daddy Trump, driving the bien pensants to utter distraction and laughing all the way to the West Wing; go Trump go, it's a weaponized presidency, Trump was specifically selected because he bothers people like you to no end, a cudgel with which to beat you over the head with, and so far, he's doing a great job.

The message is the medium, Trump is a big FU to Hollywood Liberal Panty Waist America, and their sycophants in government, media, and academia, Trump could get away with drone strikes in America at this point, never mind the Middle East, Trumpy baby, let's start shaqing some SJWs!

Constant blubbering about things like not targeting civilians, and not torturing people, not banning people on the basis of religion, and not taking away people's 2nd amendment rights without due process.

I'm happy you acknowledge these are all liberal panty waist issues. How dare I stand for something like basic human rights, amirite? When morality is morally indefensible, that's the narrative, eh? I'm straight up happy I'm on this side.

And guess what, I can't change the past. Literally 0 I can do about it. You can bring up the past all you want as to why I shouldn't have any morals at all, but it doesn't work. You can certainly believe that everything should be permitted, as long as it's your side doing it, good ol "No bad tactics, only bad targets" but that's a morally reprehensible philosophy as far as I'm concerned. You can rationalize or justify anything, but I'll be over here on the principled side, speaking towards and arguing for morality, principles, and civilization. The world is not as it should be, it is up to us to make it better.

You live in Canada, Smitty. One of the most liberal nations on earth. I mean if you were American, I'd take a little notice of that, but you're fuckin Canadian. That's like the cutest puppy in the world that wants me to believe he's a savage dog. You're just a little puppy nation, who is just the nicest little thing.

You Canadians are adorable.

True.

Can't deny that.

When it goes up, me, and every American on this forum will be in the middle of it. C'est La Vie. If it's a great depression, I'm either getting me a van, move out to the coast and work in a restaurant, or head home and circle the wagons with the family. I'm one of the common folk, broheim, lots of people will need common labor. I'll make a living either way.

I live a frugal existence anywho, most of my stuff is second-hand, not much into conspicuous consumption, if shit gets down to depression levels, I'll do just fine. You see, I get along with everyone. I'm the guy who gets the coffee pot working again so everyone at work can have coffee everyday I'm working, the guy who tries to make the lives of people around me better. If it all falls down, there will still be need for people like me. I'm good to have around ;).
