Blowback is Killing Us. Just Come Home.

Post by Fife » Fri Nov 10, 2017 12:00 pm

Picking up a quote from nmoore63 in the Saudi thread:
nmoore63 wrote:Just. Come. Home.

Is the only solution for American in the Middle East.

Why do they hate us?

I know I'm preaching to the choir, Nick, but maybe some of these other dead-enders will check some of this stuff out.

Gotta preach the hardest in the least likely places, I guess.

Has anybody checked out Scott Horton's book yet?

Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan

Horton brings clarity to the most pressing issue of our time, endless war.

Another podcast media referral:

Dave Smith has a very recent intense and amazingly clear rant on the madness of our foreign policy:

And, for social media, crazy Uncle Ron never forgets what is important:

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone interested in peace has media they want to post here?

Or anything on the topic at all? Speaking for myself, what precious little I get on the topic that isn't neocon garbage is precious, and valued, indeed.

We are simply unwilling to kill at the level it would take. You can't actually fight terrorism with Hellfire from Predators. You create more than you destroy.

The one caveat is that we put so much $$$ into those areas, that our leaving will cause destabilization that people will try and deflect onto us, so on the near term it might be worse, but its the only actual solution.

Its the Fatal Conceit.
There is no long term plan that America can create on whether or not their should be a Kurdistan.
That needs to be between the Kurds and the rest.

There is enough oil in the West, and LOADS in Venezuela for any sort of time horizon we are actually capable of planning for... Let Saudi Arabia and Iran go to war.

At this point if we just come home, we better keep them from coming here. If there aren't any Americans in the ME to kill, they will want to come here and kill us. We come home and we need to lock the door behind us.

Do you know how nice of a door you can buy for the amount of money we spending blowing up sand over there?

Well, make the case that we need to keep Muslims from migrating here and I will welcome you to the RACISM!! club while you enjoy the many examples of people who definitely are not against this.

If it meant a gradual decline in the average American household's standard of living over the next couple decades, following a "Fortress America" type foreign policy, would you guys still support a massive reduction of the US military footprint across the globe?

I wonder what the world would be like if the US just cur off all ties to the Middle East.

As in completely, No People or Goods can move to or from the US from Israel to Iran or anywhere in between.

Certainly there would instantly be a hot war between Israeli, Shia and Shiite.

Hard not to see the entire Arabian Peninsula not get curb stopped by Iran.

Yes.

The material wealth of the last few decades has not brought us more happiness, and it has poisoned our soul.
