How will the anniversary be commemorated ? How do we deal with the start of a political system that would kill 100 Million people in a century.
As the Soviet Union doesn't exist, it's not going to be a huge celebration in Russia.

Russian Independence day, or Russia Day, is celebrated in June 12th. That was the day that when Russia decided to leave the Soviet Union. Basically VE day (in Russia Victory Day) has become the Great historical commemorative day.

I gather that the Communists will rally around Lenin statues...

Where do people get the money to donate for PR relief without capitalism?
Isn't that the government's job according to socialists?
Ate they paying the live music band? Isn't that capitalism if so?

They had a great theme song, though.

You mean the Soviet anthem? Well, here's the anthem of the Russian Federation:

Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

That was my point. I think there are only a few lyrics about the geography from the old anthem they kept. Point is that after so many generations of Russians have gotten used to that as their anthem, it makes sense to simply keep the well known melody all Russians know as their anthem. It's a matter of continuity and tradition. No one remembers the pre-Communist Russia as all those people are dead, so the oldest Russians only ever grew up with the Soviet cultural impact.

Nah. They had another anthem after the Soviet Union collapsed, but nobody liked it. The one you linked was made the official anthem by Putin in 2000. Putin was like, fuck this awful anthem, we are going back to the Soviet anthem, just change the words a little to not include the degenerates.
