BjornP wrote:That was my point. I think there are only a few lyrics about the geography from the old anthem they kept. Point is that after so many generations of Russians have gotten used to that as their anthem, it makes sense to simply keep the well known melody all Russians know as their anthem. It's a matter of continuity and tradition. No one remembers the pre-Communist Russia as all those people are dead, so the oldest Russians only ever grew up with the Soviet cultural impact.
