Why are the Crimes of Stalinism Overlooked?

Post by GloryofGreece »

As compared to the crimes of Hitlerism/Nazism? This is clearly a multifaceted problem, but do you think it had more to do with America's role in the Cold War (politicizing America's Containment policy etc.) or the association with Liberals - Socialism - Communism?

Here is a good talk with author of Gulag, Anne Applebaum

Because Marxists control the media, universities, and government schools. Next question.

The communist regime in Russia was initially and largely supported by Jews. Nazis killed Jews and they won't shut up about it. They don't acknowledge the Christians that they killed and communists took over our institutions see "long march through the halls of the institutions," ie McCarthy was right. You're welcome.

Uh, yeah, like, Stalin won the war.

Whether Churchill said "History is written by victors," or Göring said "We will go down in history either as the world's greatest statesmen or its worst villains," or both, the fact is that the Uncle Joe and the Marxists who sought safe harbor at Columbia won the war.

I agree that the media has been very liberal slanted for decades, but what about the millions of servicemen, families etc. that knew the truth of it? I wonder why they didn't make more of a ruckus and speak out more? And especially after the publication of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn book there was absolutely no credibility in denying the effects of Stalinism.

Wait . . . are people wondering why more US soldiers didn't express outrage at Stalin and his Red Army, who pretty much took the Nazis down single-handedly?
I guess they weren't that mad about it.
I imagine taking down Hitler mattered more to them than what some iron-fisted dictator did in his own country.
The world's problems weren't the US taxpayers problems back then.

To be fair though, Japanese crimes are overlooked compared to Nazi crimes as well.

Is this because we don't care about Asian people like we care about white people? But the Japanese are Asian so shouldn't we vilify them more? I just can't keep up on my white privilege sometimes

After the war Japan had a scramble much like the end of the USSR where organized crime took over the pieces and the US was far more concerned with stopping the very real threat of communist parties taking over Japan and chose to back Yakuza gangs. I believe it's likely the US doesn't give a shit about the rape of Nanking and the hospital 7 or whatever experiments that Japan did. And also, fuck China.
