Agincourt, wrongly thought to be the origin of the phrase ''keeping it under your hat'' although that is where you kept your string dry.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Well, It was then also in Agincourt, because in Crecy rain had an effect:

Of the Crecy battle:
The French army moved forward late in the afternoon, around 4pm after it had formed up. As it advanced, a sudden rainstorm broke over the field of battle. The English archers de-strung their bows to avoid the strings becoming slackened; the Genoese with their crossbows could take no such precautions, resulting in damage to their weapons.

Nope, just that there's a bias of English history because ...we use the fucking language. And that's thanks to Americans and the USA, not the UK.

Nobody knows about the battle of Castillon, which some call "Crecy in reverse" or the battle of Formigny. You see the English lost the 100 years war, you know. So nope, bunch of losers back then.

The Englishman is defeated, 1453:

Thanks for the battle examples...Ill now be scrolling through multiple wiki tabs looking into it. ;) It still amazes me that England controlled roughly 1/3rd of France at various times of Medieval history. Middle Ages is cool. That and the Dutch Revolt/Thirty Years War are things I really need to read more about.

Yep. The true time when the Empire of Rome finally collapsed.

I've allways considered that Constantine XI Palaiologos ought to be viewed as the last Roman Emperor. An Emperor who died on the walls of Constantinople, not some irrelevant teen puppet emperor Romulus Augustus who was whisked off to pension and nobody cares what happened to him. But in the typical arrogant selfish style, West Europeans don't even call them Romans (as they naturally called themselves).

Which gets us back to the subject, cannons were then already huge, no reason anymore to build trebuchets (even if they are awesome).

(Cannon from 1464, but done from the same mold as the cannons used during the siege of Constantinople 1453.)
