That's exactly like SJWs.
Nor is that what happened in Germany. The republic cracked down mercilessly on national socialist speech and promoters. That's exactly what gave them a moral authority in the beginning, especially when combined with marxist street violence perpetrated against others that the national socialists showed up to defend people against.
The same types of shit happened all across Latin America where communist revolutions eventually took over.
If you want to make somebody seem more powerful, then by all means act like you are terrified of their speech and start censoring and punishing them. It works so well. Consider Google Bro. He wrote an interesting memo that would only have been read by at most a few thousand people at Google. They made a martyr out of him and then that memo was read by an entire nation, and most of us agreed with it.
Don't be a dipshit about these things. You fight ideas with ideas. If he starts actually trying to hurt somebody, then let the police deal with it. The only way you can effectively counter somebody like this is through speech of your own.
Remind me again... why was it said: "Those that don't learn from history are bound to repeat it"?
Apparently you remain in dire need of actually learning from history.
You've gone soft if you think that. I don't want to repeat history, that's my problem, you are willing to let history repeat itself far enough to make yourself right in saying "See I told you that was going to happen." Instead of stopping it before it does happen.
Remember, Hitler started off as a fringe lunatic... You want to give people that platform to become that again, go for it, but I'd rather nip dangerous people in the bud before they get the idea of doing something stupid that would harm our freedom. It's already happened too many times in my past, and I don't need more of my freedoms taken away because people like you are willing to give morons the ability to fuck it up for the rest of us.
When you attempt to censor ideas you find dangerous, you only make those ideas more powerful.
To censor one man's speech is to declare what all of us are not allowed to hear, and most people resent it. It results in people propagating the idea if only out of spite of censors.
GoogleBro's memo would only have been read by maybe a few thousand people at most, possibly only a few hundred. But they chose to punish him for his wrongthink and now look. Don't be Google.
