The traditional values of the yeoman farmers made them key figures in the republican vision for America. They also represented the majority of the farmers during the Revolutionary Era. In fact, along with the artisans, yeoman farmers made up the majority of the population during the American Revolution. They were also seen as the ideal Americans because they were hardworking virtuous citizens who did their work without exploiting others.
This is another myth. America was founded by indentured servants and wealthy aristricrats. It wasn't until around the time Tocqueville wrote about America that this myth was finally cemented. It was at that point of time like that but that was not how this nation was founded. That was not really like what the nation looked like when we declared independance and it is certainly not what the nation is today. Very little foundation to that myth.

The British have a word for foreign?

The wonders never cease.
That's only for Americans. All the other foreigners have some kind of Arabic word.

Hell, we've even got our own language unlike some who just use one from a better country.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You really should give David Hackett Fischer a break and consult with him on his next book, or just write it for him.

I didn't say founding, I said forged. Which wasn't clear. What I meant to convey is the people that won freedom from England. There would have be no revolution if it were left up to the wealthy aristocrats in the Continental Congress. That decision had to be taken out of their hands because the those people running indentured servants had too much to lose if a rebellion went bad. They fucked around for over a decade talking and asking nice while the king and parliment kept tightening the screws.

I know. They use vinegar base. OKC is tomato based with worschester sauce. You have to go WAY north in Texas to find authentic molasses based KC BBQ and even then expect to wait in line around the next block.
It's bad enough that no American can pronounce my birthplace properly but at least you could learn how to spell Worcester.

Hint, think of PG Woodhouse's Bertie Wooster and you've pretty much got it.

:snooty:
I fuck with you a lot but Woodhouse is funny funny stuff.
Damn, that's embarrassing. I spelt Wodehouse wrong and missed it.
Must proffrread betterer.

A great many of the "natives" in the Ohio valley were escaped white slaves. There are documented records of Englishmen turning runaway slave acting as interpreter during the Indian wars. That's not to mention the likely fact that some Aborigines were probably from Europe some thousands of years earlier. This is why we have so many "native Americans" in our family trees according to our great grandmothers but often times the genetic tests show that isn't the case. There isn't really any way to test for the Clovis point tribes that were wiped out by the mongoloid tribes anyway.

This nation was founded on slavery. When it became counter intuitive to work the children kidnapped from Ireland in the sugar and tobacco plantations of the south they soon adopted Africans as their go to man power slave source. The whole concept of Americans giving a single fuck about the future or "manifest destiny" is quite laughable. We have done nothing to advance the notion of liberty other than ensuring that when the time was right we would see to Europe's destruction and the advancement of colored peoples everywhere for a small monitary gain so that we can buy some more frivolous Italian cars and Korean appliances.
