So no more bananas and mangos, not a big deal.
A lot of middle eastern spices, Asian herbs,etc... I would love to say the US would be all set, but honestly, unless the US diversifies it's growing profile, we will lose a lot of things we see year round.
Those are all luxury items. We have plenty of corn, wheat, beans, beef, chicken, and pork. As long as we have all of that we will be good, just might have a bit less variety.
I agree with that. The biggest hit to our food production is energy supplies, which we have.
There is a time for good men to do bad things.

For fuck sake, 1984 is NOT an instruction manual!

Yes.

If MIT's computer model is accurate, our world would look a lot like Pre-WWI. Where most food and material production is pretty local, animals would be used as a power source again. It would be the Fall of Rome.

Better pick a good Barbarian Tribe to join

You guys are assuming that Agri-corps won’t export all the food to the highest bidder. And given the future state of our economy, that’s not necessarily us.

That's very real. In fact, they are doing it right now. China is buying up everything they can get their hands on, that flood last year really fucked them. And we have a history of bailing out people who are political enemies.

We could have strangled the CCP at the time of Tianemen, but Bush I bailed them out and set up Globalization. We could have starved out the Soviets, but aided them.

It's called the gutting of Amerika. There's not enough ports to import all the stuff we're buying by inflating the fuck out of King Dollah.

If I understand, they’ve decided to cut off all imports to CONUS, in favor of California…

ALL of the commercial crab-fishing on the OR/WA coast goes to China. They pay double/triple what the American distributors will, and have contracts that specify EVERY crab.

there's plenty of other COnUS ports. That's not what this is - you think UPAC like CA?
