Who is "we" in the larger context of Trump's quote? Smitty do we have JSOC in Syria? Are they we? I know I am not they but they may be considered I, but I know for sure that we are they. But then who is the walrus? I?

We currently have some people there but nominally it's for combating isis. I'm assuming this means Trump doesn't want to send troops against Assad but given the amount of flip flopping and contradictory statements on the issue in the past week it's hard to say.

This seems like a good sign when you consider the nature of the strike and the options that were alleged to be on the table.

Yeah the headline gave me a small glimmer of relief, but I thought I read yesterday that Trump was threatening more action if Assad continued the use of barrel bombs. I'm on team I-don't-give-a-shit-about-ISIS-or-Syria so I'm just gonna plug my ears and go la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-republican-supreme-court-nominations-la-la-la-la-la-la

Barrel bombs? Fug. I think Assad still uses those.

You hear "barrel bombs," you know you're being conned.

p.s. Because only munitions made by American defense contractors are UL approved.

Yeah nuke apparently he's a fan of barrel bombs :/
According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights watchdog, some 13,000 barrel bombs were dropped in the country in 2016
Here's the context of what I read yesterday:

Question: Is the red line for this White House chemical warfare? Is conventional warfare enough to get the president to go further than this White House is going?

SPICER: I think the president has been very clear that there are a number of lines that were crossed last week. He’s not going to sit down — you saw this with the last administration, they drew these red lines, and then the red lines were run over. ... The answer is that if you gas a baby, if you put a barrel bomb into innocent people, I think you will see a response from this president. That is unacceptable
God I hope Assad is smart enough to label military age males as enemy combatants so his innocent civilian count will stay low

Assad is smart though. That's what puzzles me the most. He's not some crack pot like the media paints him. He went to school in London and become a doctor. He didn't even want to go back to Syria until his family died and he had to go back and run things. His mother said he wasn't suited for the job. He may not be a good leader but he's not a crack pot. I never understood the barrel bomb issue either. We use similar ordinance I think.

I mean he's winning a civil war, he must be doing something right. The only real information I have on the guy is this interview:

Faith Hill? Shania Twain? So relatable, what a silly guy

Nah, we drop bombs that cost huge amounts of money… they drop bombs made from a $50 steel drum, another $50 worth of fins welded on, pack it with some explosive surrounded by whatever little scraps of metal you can find, and strap a land-mine on the front for a detonator.
