Personally don't care what age they are. If they are fleeing from "what's an Aleppo" and will do anything to escape with their families to somewhere they are safe from the evil fucks who call themselves Islamic State.
There are economic migrants mixed up with those desperate refugees but I don't see that as a valid reason to keep them all out till we've worked out what is going on like your man Hampster head. Being an Island far from the countries of Europe which suffer most from the large numbers of Refugees coming in has made it easier to restrict access for us but that does not stop the right wing tabloids printing clickbait for the likes of DSL.

Very enlightened stance that. Quite admirable Monte yep.

I am going to bed hoping that you mean it and are not being sarcastic.
Peace out bro

Thanks for remembering, I appreciate it. "Finlandia" put tears in my eyes. (The Sibelius piece, not the Vodka)

Put the Flag up at my country residence, in the avatar. (Here we get just a few days when we can hoist the flag, unlike in the States.)

99th Birthday, actually, next year the big one. But still, thanks nuke!

I feel like Charlemagne's accomplishments often to exaggerated. He certainly was the greatest leader of his time, but I feel he should take a back seat to the Romans when it comes to the title "Grandfather of Europe". There is a reason Charlemagne's empire was named after Rome.
That's absolutely true, but it gives the Germans an inferiority complex
How's that? They were one half of the Frankish empire. Karl der Grosse/Charlemagne has been claimed in the past as both the glorious ancestor of the French AND the German nation. That's what that third Reich referred to. First "reich" (realm/kingdom/empire) was Charlemagne's empire, second was the German/Prussian empire of 1871 to 1914.

Or were you simply saying Germans have an inferiorty complex towards the Romans...? :P

As for the "Grandfather of Europe" title, it's not meant by federalists as an objectively, historical title. Like with romanticist nationalists, he's just a vessel for idealists to pour all their own ideals unto. They admire the parts about him "unifying Europe", "being a patron of culture", that sort of thing because that's how they see their own project. That part about him unifying Europe through wars of conquest, destroying cultures and religions that did not conform to the views of the empire is ignored, while they at the same time blame those who oppose the federalist agenda for standing for more European wars and conflicts.

Well,

The hacking elections thing might come to Europe too!
The head of Germany’s foreign intelligence service has warned that next year’s general election could be targeted by Russian hackers intent on spreading misinformation and undermining the democratic process

Bruno Kahl, president of the Bundesnachrichtendienst, said Russia may have been behind attempts during the US presidential campaign to interfere with the vote. “We have evidence that cyber-attacks are taking place that have no purpose other than to elicit political uncertainty,” he told the Süddeutsche Zeitung in his first interview since he was appointed five months ago. “The perpetrators are interested in delegitimising the democratic process as such, regardless of who that ends up helping. We have indications that [the attacks] come from the Russian region. “Being able to attribute it to a state agent is technically difficult but there is some evidence that this is at least tolerated or desired by the state.”

Hans-Georg Maaßen, president of the domestic BfV intelligence agency, said in an interview that cyberspace had become “a place of hybrid warfare” in which Russia was a key player. “More recently, we see the willingness of Russian intelligence to carry out sabotage,” he said. Maaßen said Russian secret services had been carrying out attacks on computer systems in Germany which, as far as his agency had been able to ascertain, were “aimed at comprehensive strategic data gathering”.

The small Eastern European country of Slovakia has looked at Islam and decided it is not eligible to be a religion. Instead Slovakia defines Islam as a political movement.
https://www.rt.com/news/368755-slovakia ... igion-law/

The political system of Islam is based on three principles: Tawhid (unity of Allah), Risalat (Prophethood) and Khilafat (vicegerency).
1. Tawhid means that only Allah is the Creator, Sustainer and Master of the universe and of all that exists in it, organic or inorganic.
2. Risalat is the combination of two elements called the Shari‘ah
3. Khilafat - Man is the representative of Allah and must do his will according to Islamic law.
While Islam is a diverse religion, it seems that Slovakia has decided that Muslims cannot separate Islamic Law from secular life, therefore it cannot be a religion, but is a political movement.
