It's kind of a flagrant violation of the monroe doctrine imo. I have to fight back my inner war hawk when I think of Russia pathetically trying to grand stand like it's the cold war still. I was cool with them backing Assad and still am but this just seems slightly insulting for some reason.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:39 pmThat... is rather unsettling.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:11 pmWell Russia is flying in long range bombers apparently so maybe nothing is going to happen.

Seems we’re not doing a regime change there after all.

Not insulting, so much as a direct threat. This is the same move as planting missiles in Cuba.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:43 pmIt's kind of a flagrant violation of the monroe doctrine imo. Don't you know, dude? This is exactly the same as the Missile Crisis. Same thing.
JFK was just a Khrushchev stooge after the Kennedys colluded with the USSR to get elected in 1960. This whole Venezuela thing is just a replay of Cuba. Trump conspired to give away Caracas just like JFK intentionally botched the Bay of Pigs to give cover.
Raphael Ruz and Mike Pence are about to do the deed on Trump just like LBJ.

Maduro retains support of the military leadership and the courts. China and... Turkey (huh?) consider Maduro the legitimate president. So do roaming criminal gangs. And Maduro remains in Russia's good favor too, apparantly:

Doesn't really look like Guairdo is looking very strong. He has the support of alot of protestors... but someone like Assad faced alot of protesters a couple years back too, yet they're either docile or dead now.

Re: Venezuela news
Sure, but for whatever reason they still prefer Maduro be in charge. IIRC (think someone posted it a few pages back), the same guy who declared himself president sent out public feelers to the military some months ago. If they rejected it, and rejected whatever deals may have been tried out of the public's eye, wouldn't it be safe to assume that this new presidential pretender is looking at either exile, prison or a bullet in the neck?
Do you speak Spanish, btw? I've seen a few of you do, and I seem to recall you once learning a second language.

This is one of the most fascinating thing with Filthy Collectivists to me. They always leverage support of criminal riff raff, giving them territory to flex their muscle and using them as State enforcers and Assassins.

US starts talking regime change in our hemisphere, Russia flies strategic bombers there, and quite possibly some nukes. That’s not very different from the missile crisis.

Russia has stationed bombers there for decades. This is not a new development.
