Way too much faith in Norwegian armed forces spending here. Refloating and repairing it will cost even more than what we initially paid for it. It will be a write off. And if it isn't, it will be an even worse disaster.

And the situation is still not under control. It happened during calm seas, which is unusual at this time of the year. But on saturday, the normal weather is coming back. Waves can crush it where it lies now.

Best thing we can do now, is just accept the losses and just keep trucking on with four frigates instead of five.

They could mount some archers on the sides and maybe trade those military helicopters for a fearsome hot air balloon. The balloon could be flown into enemy territory where spears and puckets of hot pitch could be dumped onto their encampments.

I wonder if that ship is better or worse than the ones the Vikings used. We have better tools, modern technology, probably better sealants, but the Vikings built those ships for centuries, and knew all kinds of tricks. Did they even leave blueprints on exactly how they built their ships? Are the modern ones just guesses?

You'll get a better answer from one of our resident Vikings but I think they are very authentic. I don't know about blueprints but plenty of boats have been found in good states of preservation. Done properly they would have been built using tools from the period.
The rigging would be more of a guess because that doesn't often survive.
