It's never been that at any other point. First term midterms are hell, Trump got out with a braising, now Democrats have to govern, can they when the base is braying for blood? They have to herd cats now, 26 new Democrats in red or purple districts have said they wont support Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, but she is going to win and she will break them, so right off the bat these Democrats will break promises with their voters on that right there, which will energize opponents and they will have to throw some votes to GOP to try make up ground. It is by no means a bad position.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 7:50 amKath wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 7:18 amWhat are you talking about? Is this your first mid-term? The House is fickle by design. FFs knew the proles were flighty with short memories. The House was created to respond to that.
The Senate gained R seats.
A mostly normal mid-term, IMO, except that the Ds took back far fewer seats in the House than is usual.
It was a blue dribble; hardly panic time.
It's the economy stupid. No - really - under "normal" circumstances the GOP should have cleaned house based on the economy alone.....that fact that they didn't, and that the DNC took the house, evidences my point.

Why do you think the GOP will be able to make gains if the Democrats run the government into the ground? Why would you possible believe that DNC votes (some of whom you have to persuade next cycle) would actually vote non-DNC in enough numbers to unseat the DNC? That makes the assumption that DNC votes actually care about having a stable republic capitalistic republic....

Kath - this really will mean people will be forced out of their homes....many were already on the breaking point....this level of taxation will snap them. Alot of people bought post-housing crash and have already gone through the two biggest tax increases in state history and will be facing the removal of SALT deductions this spring. SALT deductions are not chump change here...its why most people can afford a house at all - whether you agree with or not with the removal of SALT, it doens't change the fact that many household will not be meeting payment next spring...especially with all the taxed the DNC is proposing....

If Trump ever entertains that Chamber of Commerce wing again, 2020 could look ugly.
I never understood fucking the entire republican base in the ass for the sake of a minority of business owners made any sense. Those CoC cunts ate a real problem.

My household will survive....but we're going to take it on the chin with the ongoing decrease in property values...which will now only accelerate as no company in their right fucking mind would move into CT without a government kickback.

Are you thinking of moving? If you did move, what state looks appealing to you right now?Zlaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 8:28 amZlaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 8:26 am

My wife and I have discussed it...and believe that we will be moving out of CT when she comes up for another promotion at work (company will buy house if we can't sell it)...I agree with the inference in the second part of the question....the fucking collectivists plague is talking hold and growing everywhere....hopefully the lines become even more clear by the time we have to move.heydaralon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 8:42 amAre you thinking of moving? FL is a no go - just a matter of time before they go full Socialist - too many PRs and NE Liberals there....they will have an income tax in two election cycles.
The PRs really blow my fucking mind - they've seen first hand the abuse of a large government with "social programs" can bring...they of all people should have tried to stop Gillium.....
