The attack on the Saudi refinery has more to do with the war in Yemen. What Iran has done there is really unforgivable.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 12:56 pmThe shooting down did not happen in isolation.
It was a consequence of the Iranian missile attack on a US airbase which in turn was a consequence of the killing of Soleimani by a US drone which was a consequence of the attack on the Saudi oil refinery which was a consequence of the increased sanctions on Iran which were a consequence of pulling out of the nuclear deal.

The Iranians succumb to Trump Derangement Syndrome.
This is what he does, adversaries blow themselves up in their zeal to lash out at the Teflon Don.

Did Iran even support the Houthis? I thought that was bullshit. The ex president Ali Abdullah Saleh used to try and get JSOC and the CIA to drone strike them by telling them they were AQ. The thing is, the Houthis are Shia, so in terms of the regional Cold War going on there, it would make sense for Iran to support them. However, the stuff I read said that they were not. Idk.Hastur wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 1:45 pmThe attack on the Saudi refinery has more to do with the war in Yemen. The Houthis have been embarrassing the shit out of Saudi Arabia. They are like the Shah of Iran in the 2000's. Buying record amounts of top grade military hardware, but they are a paper tiger. Pathetic. I think Yemen has actually produced some pretty tough fighters.

Partisan hack bitches make weak excuses for what is cut and dry. Iran shot down a civilian aircraft originated from their own airspace. This isn't black and white because it's all Iran. You cannot control others but you can control your own actions. Children are taught this. Your TDS has robbed you of all sense of personal responsibility. Or maybe it is some other trauma you experienced .Montegriffo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 12:56 pmThe shooting down did not happen in isolation.

Funny thing, I wrote this in 2001, about a game concept about how the politicians lost the respect of the people... and how a corporate candidate won the election through two elections. This was the onset of the 2nd Civil War. I called him the Teflon Don because he couldn't be touched by a politician or other normal political tricks.
This was meant to happen around 2058. So this happened a lot sooner than I expected.
In 2058, the corporation representative had taken a definitive lead against the other reps, due to the inability of the other candidates to run a “clean election”. The democratic, and republic representative, seemed to be baffled in what to do, they threw everything that they could to tarnish the corporate rep’s name, and yet he was like the “Teflon Don”, always seemed to come out on top, and unscratched. The population was becoming enamored with him, and with his straight-talking, no BS attitude, always to the point responses and actions. The people learning that, unlike the government reps, the corporate rep did not put on a show; he did things and said things as he saw them. The people liked him, because he was a breath of fresh air, in comparison to the 14 presidential elections, in where the electoral mandates, once in office, normally “forgot” their promises.

Well I don't actually find any of this to be particularly new.
Trump's position vis a vis Iran is the established GOP Neoconservative position.
This is Reagan 2.0
This is how it was in the 1980's, resulting in similar shoot downs of two airliners
The first being KAL 007 in 1983, followed by Iran Air 655 in 1988
And the Gipper was similarly Teflon, to include dodging Iran-Contra

Sure the narrative might differ but in practice does it make much difference?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
