In a nation where self-defense has been declared strictly verboten, the absurdity of laws of prior restraint just become a sort of running gag. Even Montez knows its all just a Kafka Vaudeville act.

Check out the UK butter knife memes making the rounds this last week. Take note, US.

Gotcha. You're carrying that extension cord around and an officer decides you have "no good reason" to have it, obviously you must be thinking about strangling someone with it - you must appear in court to prove you aren't guilty of planning to use it for nefarious purposes ("wrong think"). Same with that bat, or pipe. Burden of proof on you to prove your innocence, you are presumed guilty otherwise.

Saw one just the other week, guy was helping a friend who does window glass replacement - has a knife for picking out glazing/sealing, they go to lunch and his friend leaves the knife in his car, forgets it later that day. Cop sees it in his car a few days later, doesn't believe his explanation, guy goes to court - even with a signed statement from his friend he's found "guilty" for possession of a knife that wasn't even his.

Apparently for having "no good reason" he now has a police record.

It is funny as shit.

I sometimes hang with a single mom with a few boys. When a cop pulled her over for some infraction, he was like, "do you have any weapons in the vehicle?" She replied: Probably. I have two boys in the truck.

UK murder rate 1 per 100 k
US murder rate 5 per 100 k

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

When you remove black people from the equation, our rates are about the same, Monty.

Is it an excuse before the courts to carry a knife in case of attack by one of the millions of jihadis your evil government unleashed upon the English people?

That has nothing to do with this law
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session
