It would make more sense to give the territory back and just relocate people to England who identify as such.
I do not even understand what value Northern Ireland has to England. You guys lost your conquest and subjugation of Ireland. That territory is worthless to you.
And I thought you were all one globalist family?
So we ignore the will of the people?
If we are going to do that we might as well ignore the Brexit vote and stay in the EU thus ensuring continuing peace in NI.
If we are going to start giving away sovereign territory then who next? The Falkland islands? Gibraltar? Wales? Scotland? Cornwall?
After all we lost our Empire and all those places are a drain on the UK treasury.
Well, my point is that your nationalistic sentiments expressed here are in direct opposition to your globalist sentiments expressed elsewhere. These two things are not compatible. If you are a pro-EU globalist, then Northern Ireland is just a territory in the EU that can be reallocated however best suits the general peace and welfare. The national identities of people affected are nothing more than that pesky nationalism getting in the way of the neoliberal globalist utopia.
To wit: what exactly is a Remainer supposed to say if Brussels tells you to hand over Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland?
Get fucked or we will Brexit, this is our country not yours??

Make Britain great again by dividing it up back into its constituent parts.
Genius.
Same for Britain - who gives a fuck? The people who cared about it gave up on it long ago.
Let's all wish them a happy Ramadan and move the fuck on.
I should probably scroll back to see how NI even became a topic, but ... nah.

Whoooa. Did I fall into a time warp back to the 80's?
Who cares about Northern Ireland?
It doesn't mean shit to us, and the people it does mean shit to have already given up on it. What's next? Re-litigating the creation of Israel?
Y'all ran out of current issues to bitch about?
Backstop dear boy. It is a current issue of great importance to the UK.
Not sure why some Americans are so invested in returning us to civil war though.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Where did you get the idea that I'm pro-EU? If you go back to page 1 you will see I'm a reluctant Remainer on the grounds that I don't wish to commit economic suicide.
I'm anti-federalisation just like my representatives were in the EU parliament.

Vote Remain if you are a pro-EU globalist.
Vote Brexit if you are a nationalist.
It's not complicated. That literally is what the vote was about. Nationalism versus globalism, and you voted globalism. Now you want to use nationalistic arguments to hang on to Northern Ireland? Contradiction.
If the UK has the prerogative to maintain control of Northern Ireland because the majority of the people identify as British subjects, then you cannot then argue Brussels has the authority to violate British sovereignty because nationalism sucks.

Just the sort of vast oversimplification of the issue I have come to expect from you. Totally wrong as well.

YOU have not had a civil war in 500 years.
Ireland. Is. Not. Yours.

Just because the uninformed cannot see that remaining in the customs union is in our nationalistic best interests does not make it false.
You seem to think that I prefer the best interests of the EU over the best interests of my nation. The opposite is true. Just so happens that I think our best interests lie in continued free trade with our largest trading partner.
