You are thinking about the Chinese through an American lens. We respond to being made to look like foolish idiots by attacking our government and leadership because we view ourselves as citizens, with a government responsible to us.
The Chinese (at least the Han majority that isn't being actively repressed) will respond by closing ranks and defending their government because they are, essentially, subjects. The majority of mainland China is not like Hong Kong or Taiwan - they will not turn against the CCP, and neither will Beijing's trading partners unless there is a better option for them - an option the West will have to provide through multilateral trade agreements.
You simply can not 'expose' or 'embarrass' the CCP out of existence.
Imagine the effect if we simply unblocked it for them. Broadcast Elon’s star link into their territory for free, and sit back.
1) Say this is just Western propaganda
2) Claim to be the victim of Western Imperialism
3) Clamp down on the tiny minority of critics and dissidents
4) Continue to enjoy majority mainland support by providing jobs and resources to the majority by building ghost cities
Star Link isn't going to bring down the CCP. Absolutely absurd. It is like believing that dropping pamphlets from planes will topple Communist autocrats. The mainland majorities do not give a shit. China's trading partners do not give a shit.

You have an awful lot of faith in the power of government. Just set a few million people snickering quietly at Winnie the Pooh, and the regime is gone within a year.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 1:20 pmThis is 100% true.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 1:08 pmNah dude. Yeah, gotta go with HM on this one.
China isn't crumbling on account of memes.
China will watch 2 million Chinese die and not even blink.

Re: FUCK THE PRC
The only reason why the CCP are still in power is because people's lives today are better than they were yesterday. Once people's lives stop getting better, things could change very quickly. There is a lot of quiet dissent within China.
Also, if you want to topple the CCP right now, all you need to do is destroy a few dams, and make it look natural. Their Mandate of Heaven tends to be tied very closely to water management (their mythical origin story is about water management). Once the perception that they have "lost the mandate of heaven" gains traction, some powerful men would probably move against the CCP.

During the Opium Wars the Chinese would execute their addicts in coastal cities en masse.
The other citizens didn't do shit.
Just watched them get cut down by the state
Suring the Tianamen Square protests the Chines fired AA guns into crowds of their own people.
Again, the citizenry didn't do jack about it.

I'd submit that the vast majority of them - and even the majority of the West - don't know what happened there.DBTrek wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 7:24 pmDuring the Opium Wars the Chinese would execute their addicts in coastal cities en masse.
