Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
Americans are driven by the Protestant Great Awakening of 1820
the principle American drives are Christian decency & forgiveness
forgiveness is in fact the seminal American ideology
in America, you simply have to admit your trespasses, and they will forgive you
because all Americans hope for that, when they inevitably fall from grace

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
Americans often invoke 1776
but those Americans would be alien to you
1820 is the year that Americans became the hyper Protestants we are now
doesn't matter your personal faith, American culture is hyper Protestant since the Great Awakening

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
why do other countries fear America ?
it's the fiery Protestant faith
the Terrible Swift Sword
since Dixie was subjugated at Appomattox Court House in 1865
we are all Abolitionists now
even Marse Robert said so, in General Order Number 9

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
Well, that was awkward:
An ex-friend just came by unannounced. He was the one I got into it with about mandates. The first thing I said, before even "Hi," was "Don't mention war with Russia." Of course, without saying "Hi," he started in on Ukraine talking points. I let him have it with both barrels: 30 minutes at least, only stopping for a shot of Irish whiskey b/c St. Paddy's day. Afterwards, he asked if I wanted to go have dinner tomorrow. "No," I said.
That's where I am.

It gets better: he said he's working on Joe Kent's WA3 U.S. House campaign. He said Joe Kent got Trump's endorsement. I said, "Did Joe Kent rip the mask off his face, throw it to the ground and say, 'I'm not wearing this?'" My ex-friend made some kind of excuse. I said, "I did. I'd never vote for someone who was either uninformed, compromised, or didn't live up to his own beliefs."

It has nothing to do with the protestant faith... good lord, for someone who spouts religion and faith like breathing you truly don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
I've lost a few friends because of the mask mandate thing, then the Canadian trucker things, and there are a few religious nuts left that are probably going to disown me after I pretty much tell them that this entire issue with Russia and Ukraine is not as simple as waving a flag.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 3:39 pmIt gets better: he said he's working on Joe Kent's WA3 U.S. House campaign.
