People have silly notions about how effective stealth actually is, too. The United States, Russia, and China can all shoot down stealth fighters no problem. You all need to realize that.

You don't actually get any benefit from F-35's stealth capabilities that is worth even a tiny fraction of the cost.

You are better off with stealth air superiority fighters and bombers that can try to penetrate deep into heavily defended airspace. Use more affordable and robust aircraft for the other missions, and especially for support.

The only area I think we are lacking here is a dedicated stealth SEAD aircraft.

The F-35 really did fuck up our entire shit where it came to gearing up for fifth gen. It could very well cost us a war now because it takes at least a decade to get something new off the ground and delivered.

F-15 is not survivable, it's more expensive than the F-35, but it's not stealth, so it's obsolete.

A MiG-21 can shoot down an F-15 with the R-73M, so it's not worth spending money on F-15 anymore.
Holy shit what a load of horseshit. Did you read that bullshit from a Lockmart brochure too?

The F-15 has NEVER been shot down in aerial combat, dude. It's the most effective fighter in aviation history.

The goalposts keep on moving, one moment F-22 is amazing, the next moment stealth doesn't work.

Winslow Wheeler Mother Jones Magazine glaring fallacies again.

In terms of F-15, once again, it's expensive, maintenance intensive, only flies from long runways, and isn't survivable anymore because it has a huge radar and thermal cross section which cannot evade the latest generation missiles.

Even in terms of realpolitik, if F-35 were to be cancelled, you're not getting F-15, you'll just get new F-16's

In the unlikely event of F-35 cancellation, what will happen as a result, is America will force its customers to go somewhere else to get an edge on F-16, they will either buy the British Typhoon, which is F-16 on steroids, or they will buy the French Rafale, which is F-16 without the PAL locks for nuclear option.

And just to be clear, in the unlikely event that F-35 were cancelled, that wouldn't mean that I would sell LockMart per se, because I would expect Hewson to have to sweeten the deal then, starting with a higher dividend.

Moreover, if you've ever met a worker from Lockheed Martin on the line in Fort Worth, these are some good ol' Americans I tell you, old school, gung ho, all in for America. So just on that, I wouldn't dump them for a quick buck.

You have no fucking idea what you are even posting. Reality is the exact opposite of that characterization.
