We do retain a pretty high level law firm. We actually received his signed NDA today (ironically enoug).i had always been agitating that our guys need to sign one and I finally got the president to do it, he prefers not to hold leverage over employees (he’s that nice of a guy).

I don’t think it is larceny, probably more of wrongful appropriation because it is pretty easy to collect, the evidence is clear.

We had an $800 charge at Macy’s, some resort for $500 etc... He wasn’t paying medical bills with this, it’s pretty clear it was lifestyle spending.

What makes me so upset is that he is claiming he confused his personal credit card with the company one. He made this mistake before (3 months ago) and I let it go, it made sense if it happened once (both are black and look similar). But this happened multiple occasions, and it’s all high dollar. If this is a mistake, why am I not seeing grocery or Best Buy bills? Only $400 plus.

It doesn’t add up.

Stealing is stealing, though. If he will do that, you have no idea where the betrayal can end.

Wow. First, don’t try and predict the future or read people’s minds. This guy makes big bucks for you and $5K is mousenuts. You need a heart-to-heart. Ask him what the fuck he’s thinking, and what did he think was going to happen? Ask him what he thinks you should do? Fear would work here.

Tell him you'll let him off with a warning if he comes to my house for a clinic on re-purposing pallets.

I thought about it a little in the shower and it may be there are some crossed lines here, vik.

I'm quoting hash because that's kind of what I was thinking. You said yourself the credit card can be used for clients, well, a resort? Are you sure he's not hobnobbing clients. Macy's? Is he trying to look good? The spending may not be directly client related but maybe it is indirectly a bit, and maybe he's treating himself and his wife (shes got to look good for the clients as well after all.)

When you confronted him maybe he didn't know how to say it but he may not feel like it's technically stealing. Just a little grease. So he lied about switching credit cards by accident.

Exactly, even for high rollers, a sheet a year ain't chump change. That's some nice margin for one guy.

Yeah, but some guy you think is harmless could also be a serial killer, really depends what kind of business you are running, like if it was an NFL football team and he was the all pro wide receiver you'd put up with more, if he was the water boy on the bench you would put up with less.
This guy is Wayne Gretzky... it’s why this is hard.
Wayne Gretzky wouldn't steal, if he was Wayne Gretzky there wouldn't be a problem, he's not Wayne Gretzky he's Pete Rose.
Yea, I said the same thing to the president.

We have a less talented guy in our office and I said if we sent him out there this kind of shit would never happen.

This guy is immensely talented. I’ll be lucky if I ever find a guy as good as him. But immensely talented people can be dangerous too.

Yea, but I’m also kind of honor bound to be upfront with the guy.

Using cold lizard logic I just milk him and find the right time to fire. But I can’t do that to someone. I don’t play with a man’s livelihood and family. If I gotta let you go, it’s immediately after I know it’s time.

Well you gotta call your own plays of course, and your honour is not in question with me, soldier, but it's not the military, and he's not a soldier, this is civvy side, troop

I agree, that’s good advice.

However he has the power to fuck us hard. Because he’s so senior he is not disposable. Which is why I fear the down the road consequences.

In a bubble, he makes us a lot of money. But thinking long term I’m worried about someone with integrity costing even more further on down the road.

Just as an example, he knows where our stuff is contract manufactured. He could get a job with a competitor, show up with a couple os suitcases of money and pay them to shut down. Nothing insurmountable but it would cost us a lot. If I can’t trust you, I feel you need to go.
