Should economics be the most important factor in running a society *(or the only really)? I know anytime someone comments on a system its b/c they suck...DBTrek wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:01 amWhat economic system do you find outperforming capitalism? Or, alternatively, if capitalism is about to expire and make way for a better system - what is that system?
Because the only people I normally find complaining about capitalism are those who do poorly at it. They prefer systems where their rewards far out-strip their production, and the only way humans have been able to make that work is by redistributing the productive rewards of others.

If you’re a “winner,” Capitalism is, by far, the best system. Losers prefer Marxism.

derp derp. Is marxism the only economic system besides modified capitalism (ours) or maybe just maybe can we modify it more ? Plus, like I said before, should economics determine most everything politically, socially, culturally etc.?Martin Hash wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:32 amIf you’re a “winner,” Capitalism is, by far, the best system. If you can’t do that, get better at Capitalism.
(The failed premise of this thread was obvious as soon as all the anti-capitalist messaging started wandering off into the historical weeds. You can’t attack capitalism based on fairy-tale history, baseless invective, or ruminating over how important economics should be for a society. All that stuff gets filed under “I” for IRRELEVANT. You have to attack the actual system or admit defeat and move along)

The most important thing for Americans up until a decade ago was liberty, personal autonomy. Capitalism is the best fit for liberty, as is democracy. However, both are the biggest threats to liberty when exploited, like now.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:30 amShould economics be the most important factor in running a society *(or the only really)? As I’ve said many times before, only America makes liberty paramount. Most foreigners don’t even know what it is.

Religious people aren't really liberty-minded; they're already taking orders from God. They only like liberty when their religion is being persecuted. Liberals, secular narcissists, like me, are the proponents of liberty, but there are few of us left. It's going to be a showdown between the Anarcho-Capitalists and the Marxists, and liberty ain't coming out alive.

Capitalism and Marxism are not the only choices. Marxism of all forms is fucking evil. Nobody here is arguing otherwise. Capitalism has a shelf-life and we are pretty fucking close to it right now. We are going to transform it into something new somehow, no differently than we transformed mercantalism into capitalism.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:32 amIf you’re a “winner,” Capitalism is, by far, the best system. Which is utterly beside the point I had made. Capitalism has fuck all to do with why our quality of life is so abysmal in America compared to all the other western capitalist nations out there. That has more to do with our culture and values.
I agree that liberty is a great value, but this quality of life issue is not the cost of having liberty either. It's just who we are. If we are collectively cool with that, then fine. My objection is to these silly mythologies you guys are perpetuating about who we are. Let's be realistic. We were founded explicitly as colonies based on human exploitation and depriving liberty to most. We damned well grew out of depriving everybody else of personal liberty, and it's certainly possible we can grow out of this concept of exploiting each other as much as possible for personal gain as well. But that's up to us. I am not saying we should necessarily do anything about it. I am saying for the love of bacon, let's be honest about ourselves.
The thing I find ironic about the Alt-Right is how they project shit onto Jews that is distinctly American. Nobody Jews everybody like Americans do. Nobody. It's literally how we were founded. It's part of who we are still.

And all those days off.
Fuck Liberty, right? And individual rights. And due process. And modern medicine. And codified law. And reliable food supply. And clean drinking water. And electricity.
Titty baths and all the time off (to be starving property) in the world. That’s where it’s at, son. Live like an unwanted pet in utter servitude to a callous, plundering, rape-crazed warlord, as god intended. That was the real apex of human existence.
If only we had some backwards, non-industrial, theocratic, totalitarian nations today, eh? Ah well, all great things must come to an end. Back to the horrific human travesty known as American wage slavery.

Straw man.
Bring me some sources that medieval England was as horrific as you guys argued, or that capitalism has to result in an average of 16 days vacation instead of what every other capitalist nation in the western world has.
If you want to argue with Marxists about capitalism, then go to Facebook. Don't project your silly games onto me.
