Here's my take on it.

They love to talk hockey. No doubt. They appear to be good at it. They refuse, however, to keep it to a hockey related thread. Why? I keep asking myself why?

My best guess is that they tried to make it over at whatever the popular hockey forum is, and they couldn't make it. They are so terrible at their analysis that they were laughed into oblivion. Then they went to other forums and tried to start hockey threads, but they had no interest.

Last resort - find a place where the incredibly generous owner says, "yeah, whatever you want." So, they take it and abuse it to death. Since they can't have any voluntary participation in their wonky analysis, they have to spam other threads in the hopes that they will garner some interest.

If they were truly just interested in shooting the shit, they'd keep it to their own thread. If I was passionate about having a one-on-one with someone else, bet that I wouldn't do it by trying to spam others in open conversation about something completely unrelated.
