I've met no shortage of the top 1-10%, and I have family members not that far removed from the 1% (easily 10%).

It's not that they're inherently selfish (mostly), it's the classic prisoners dilemma. Why should I give money away if the rest don't. Same as carbon negotiations, taxes, or anything else.

Yes there are good Samaritans that will do it anyway, but no large scale philanthropy is going to save us. Tree of liberty and all that.
The top 10% is more than 32 million people. The president of a community college is in the top 10%. We weren't talking about them.

1% is 3.2 million. That's a movie star. We weren't talking about them.

.1% is 300,000 people. You've never met any of them.
you're dividing the population, not the wealth, silly.

Well, you are right on this one. Why don't you try setting up your own postal system up for Asshippieville, and see where it winds up?

Like Fed Ex and UPS?
You're better than this.

Are you also hating on Lysander Spooner nowadays?

If it's illegal for private carriers to carry letters, then why do UPS and Fed Ex drivers get away with it?

Yes - what's better - a little bit of chemo or a lot of chemo? - the less a government interacts with the individual the better. And a government should not be a "society."

Silly Europeans and their infatuation with government.
Well, isn't a money transaction also an interaction of sorts?

Silly Americans and their fantasies that we are "infatuated with government". ;) I agree that government should not be a society. Government is what governs society, and in a democracy it is meant to be by, of and for the society it governs. Consequently, a democratically elected government that does not truly represent the interests of its electorate: Shouldn't keep electing them, then. In a democracy, the electorate is free to choose their leaders... but that also means they have to take responsibility for their choices.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Since we are on public goods:

From the 'Public Goods' Wiki-
The definition of non-excludability states that it is impossible to exclude individuals from consumption. [lil' snip] Many forms of information goods have characteristics of public goods. For example, a poem can be read by many people without reducing the consumption of that good by others; in this sense, it is non-rivalrous.
Now, if the state can use its violence to create moon-men, why does it seem silly to have it use a little of that violence to pay us all to write poetry?
HAIL!

Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Poetry is excludable.

I've written plenty of poems that neither you nor anyone else will ever see (by my choice, and mine alone). :goteam: :drunk:

Get the idea? You ain't getting the elites on board if it's on t.v.
Not a job creator, unless it takes off nationally for the masses.

Isn't that what Medieval Times does? Never been to one, but I think they actually joust for real...

Image
They joust for real but its all choreographed and the sticks are made to break and explode. The person who's supposed to lose jumps off his horse
I'm off to a jousting event next week. I went to the same event last year. The lances are made of balsa wood and cut half way through to ensure they break on impact. Still a good spectacle but not ''real''.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Dude, it was silly. You are saying it's not mail unless it has a USPS stamp on it, and that makes all the difference? LOL.

You can put the same mail in a UPS envelope and they will put a UPS stamp on it and deliver it (probably faster).

It's the same thing.

Hearsay until you prove it, at which point: non-excludable.

or

Many of the items listed as public goods are only non-excludedable because they are actively made available.
