We have an EU law where an employer can't make you work more than 48hrs a week. You can still choose to do so if you wish but you can't be forced to.

Because this is America Bitch! Not the fucking EU.

That's literally the definition of an exempt employee.

That's not an answer.
Nothing to stop you checking if you want to but you can't be made to work after hours. Why would you have a problem with that.
Am I missing something?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Actual enforcement of this law against the private sector would destroy the city that never sleeps.

Not overly concerned however.

This is where leftists get their feelers all in a jumble and act like a bunch of dopes. Somehow, “can’t check email” has been translated into “can’t force people to work” in Monte’s head. So no matter what the law says, no matter the effects of the law, no matter how many foreseeable disasters this law may seed - in Monte’s misguided, paternal mindset, it’s all about saving workers from slave driving rich people.

... and as long as your views give you do-gooder happy feels, it doesn’t matter who your law wrecks, right? You had good intentions, even if you destroyed countless lives, so fuckit.

You should be concerned that a fucking elected official even drafted the bill.....evidences the degraded state of the republic - the people no longer want freedom....or, more likely, are too fucking stupid to actually want and protect freedom....

I am well aware of how fucking retarded these folks are.

I should say, this specific example doesn't change my concern.

-This law is unlikely to become law.
-if it does, it is unlikely to ever be enforced
-if it is, business will flee
-if there is no were left to flee, then there will be shortages and unrest

If you're relieved because the law will most likely not come to pass....you're still missing my point.

You're missing something. Exempt employees are paid to do the work until the job is done. Not sure why this is so hard to imagine. Many people do jobs that don't fit neatly into a 9-5, M-F bucket.

Also, why is it the government's business what hours I work?
