This is where leftists get their feelers all in a jumble and act like a bunch of dopes. Somehow, “can’t check email” has been translated into “can’t force people to work” in Monte’s head. So no matter what the law says, no matter the effects of the law, no matter how many foreseeable disasters this law may seed - in Monte’s misguided, paternal mindset, it’s all about saving workers from slave driving rich people.

-This law is unlikely to become law.
-if it does, it is unlikely to ever be enforced
-if it is, business will flee
-if there is no were left to flee, then there will be shortages and unrest

You're missing something. Exempt employees are paid to do the work until the job is done. Not sure why this is so hard to imagine. Many people do jobs that don't fit neatly into a 9-5, M-F bucket.

Also, why is it the government's business what hours I work?
