There were something like 10 space heaters that got the boot in our office alone. The big boss had to lower the boom about contraband heaters, no breach of contract for us. Morale took a big hit for a while, but male schadenfreude hit all time highs, so it all worked out.

Where's the Environmental argument come in here about not wasting energy ?

Aside for higher qualifications for software engineers, required education, and much more difficult problems to solve, I am still scratching my head as to how my discipline is similar to your own.
Without expertise in your field, I wouldn't try to claim superiority in 'problem solving', but that didn't seem to slow you down a bit.
Software engineers are the people who design and build your database systems, dude.
Indeed they are. And if you want to take credit for designing a language or software package on the scale of SQL, then I’ll be suitably impressed. :)

I don't have to take credit for designing an SQL database system to demonstrate how much higher level a software engineer is from a database IT guy.

We all had to study database design just to graduate with a bachelor's degree. About a year ago you didn't understand what I meant by that and I showed you some relational algebra.

Your response was to the effect: fuck no fuck that I don't math.

Well, that's the difference between a software engineer and any of the myriad of IT fields out there.

And that database stuff is actually pretty trivial compared to the mathematics involved in a wireless communication network, especially that fucking base radio.

Don’t need it. Some Indian software guys made GUIs for all that. ;)

The field contains plenty of problem solving, and no - it doesn’t require nearly as much math. But figuring out how to build a corporations executive Reports, and such is no small job.

Different strokes.

I think I need to change sides for a while. I red pilled half the forum and now we need some decent feminist arguments.

Sexism in the workplace is real too. I am learning about shit that I thought doesn't really happen. It happens all the time.

OMG, you guys should have been at my office building about 10 years ago when a new property management company laid down some new ground rules for all the tenants. No More Space Heaters!
That would be the day I announce my retirement.

Why not just warmer clothes ?

Think about the Environment.
Everyone knows you should keep the heat thermostat down.

It was 94 degrees today and I'm wearing a sweater and jeans. Husband jacks the A.C. up to polar vortex and then sits around in a t-shirt and shorts.
