All the change has been technological, people are still Victorian in mindset, only the technology has advanced.

Still no reason to state that the best minds of the last hundred years wouldn't have made advances.
They might have been advances in different directions.
They wouldn't have all become riveters and greengrocers.
Maybe we would have nuclear fission instead of nuclear bombs.

Got to tell people what they want to hear and/or and show them what they want to see. If you aren't doing that, that might explain the lack of fame. Whether or not Martin Hash is impressed by the accomplishments of the famous doesn't determine who is famous, gotta appeal to a wider audience for that, whether or not a wider audience should be impressed won't change the fact that they aren't.
