Very same to you and yours. To celebrate this year, we ordered our first 40 chicks. :)

No rabbits?
Nah, but maybe soon. Starting with chickens/turkeys. Working up to piggies next year. Then cows year 3.
Sweet. My niece just got a couple of milking calves so that she can harvest her own raw milk. (She's in Wisconsin)

What breed of chicks did you have headed your way?

I’ve got a dozen Barred Rocks for layers, and 30 Red Rangers for meat birds. Going to be nailing down the chicken tractor and processing before I go any bigger.

Nice! Barred rocks are hit and miss as far as temperament. We've had super friendly "pet" quality and super aloof couldn't give a shit kind. Are Ameraucanas available in your area? I highly recommend them for layers. High producing, quality eggs and as a bonus they are blue eggs.

Post some pics of the tractor when you get it built. I am curious to see what your version is/will be. My 5 gallon bucket conversion to a kill cone worked extremely well. Super quick and effective.

Going for the suscovitch model. Results may vary.

Interesting use of the bucket…. Kill cones are stupid expensive.

18 minutes is entirely too long to tell some one to cut the bottom out of a bucket, roll it into a cone, trim off the excess and pop rivet it together but this is the video I watched. Chickens were dead in seconds, totally relaxed being upside down. It was quick and clean.

April 19th is Patriots Day

Commemorating the shot heard round the world April 19, 1775.

It was widely celebrated until the civil war. The only remaining vestige now is the Boston marathon.
