Investing Questions

Post by heydaralon » Tue Apr 14, 2020 10:47 am

I have been looking to set up an online account at schwab or wherever where I can start investing. I don't know where to start. I'm have a few grand in stocks at the company I work with, and I want to set up a 401k there as well, but I am not an expert or even a novice on stocks, bonds, markets etc.

I also don't have a lot of money to play with, as my job doesn't pay much. But I want to start putting aside money a little each week, and keep in there and start building a nest egg for myself 30 years down the road. I'm 29, and I have no kids, wife, mortgage etc, so even if I fuck this up it will not be the end of the world. I can only fall so far.

Anyway, what is the best way to start investing? If you were me, ie someone without much money, how would you start? Where would you go? Even trying to set up an online account is tricky, because the options for what type of account are all terms that I do not understand. How much should I put in my 401k? I have not talked to my boss about this yet because of the Covid and Easter rushes going on.

Any and all help on this would be appreciated.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

My skill at poker is probably even less than my skills at investing.

I didn't start in the equity markets, the first thing I bought was real estate

The equity markets became a way to stop working

But first you need a place to live, paying your own mortgage, not someone elses

You're not going to make a huge return inflation adjusted over 25 years

But it's like a savings account, which you can live in

Plus chicks dig it

I know sweet Fanny Adams about investing either but I reckon you've chosen the best time in your life to start.
Good luck.

How many different houses have you owned over the years? my concern (and realistically I'm probably 3 years away from getting a job that would allow me property) is that the employment market may force me to move. In the early stages of life, is owning the property more important than its location?

I've owned four houses, three I lived in, one is an investment property

You asked where you should direct your investment first, at your age, blow job city is where I went

Location is paramount,

don't settle

buy a place which you would be happy to live in for the rest of your days, if you got stuck there

You have never seen panties melt like when the day you buy your sacred woman a fully detached house

Not a condo, a real house, a home :bites lip:
