Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, also Le Corbusier (1887–1965),was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and the pioneer of “modern architecture.” He was a Cubist painter and established the Purist journal “L'Esprit nouveau.” He sought efficient ways to house large numbers of people in response to the urban housing crisis. The Open Hand (La Main Ouverte) is a recurring motif in his architecture. His famous saying is “Architecture or Revolution.” ASPECT
