 Ibn Rushd Latinized as Averroes (1126–1198) is a medieval Andalusian Aristotelian and Islamic philosopher. He studied theology, Islamic jurisprudence, psychology, politics, Andalusian classical music theory, geography, mathematics, and the mediæval sciences of medicine, astronomy, physics, and celestial mechanics, the "founding father of secular thought in Western Europe" known “the Commentator.” Ibn Rushd wrote a medical encyclopedia, three books on physics.
