Then what would you want back for Kadri if not an RHD?
I don't think Dubeezus thinks like that.

I think he will probably keep Kadri and just keep developing internally.

I don't think he thinks like he has to make big splashy blockbuster trades.

I think Dubeezus wants to be the smartest guy in the room who develops his own players who other teams wish they had.
So piss away the early window because he's too afraid to make a move, and wants to act like the smartest guy in the room? That's not terribly encouraging, if he wanted to do that, he shouldn't have signed Tavares.
I don't think he's as worried about the defence as the media and fans are.

I don't see him going out and spending tons of assets to get somebody elses top pairing defensemen.

I don't think teams trade those guys anyways, unless it's a rental.

Top pairing Dman with term, traded for an aging Kadri?

I don't see it. What Dman are you going to get for Kadri?

It's not going to be a real deal top pair guy, Kadri is not worth that.

If you want a top pair guy, that would cost Nylander.

It's like I'd want Colton Parayko, but we're not getting Parayko for Kadri.

Parayko costs Nylander. I don't think he's trading Nylander, he's high on future Nylander when he grows up a bit.

Shouldn't have signed Tavares then, make up your mind Dubas. Trying to build a short term window, and long term window at the same time will result in doing neither very well, have some balls, get off the fence.

Win Now or Rebuild, time to make a choice.

I don't see the trade you are invoking anyways.

I don't think teams make those trades.

Kadri for a 2D? No way. I wouldn't trade that for Kadri so why would another team?

It's like if some other team offered me Kadri for Dermott? Take a lap.

Throw in more than Kadri, you got too many small wingers anyway. Throw in a draft pick or two as well if you have to. Or trade for future assets and embrace the rebuild, try and move Tavares before he ages out. If you are just going to let the cake bake on defense, set yourself up to better once the cake is baked.

Time to get off the fence. Kadri is an asset, you can get something for him, better than keeping him until he walks, and you get nothing, like Gardiner.

I think the team could win the cup with the defense it has now.

I don't think the defense is the problem so much as the team is inconsistent.

When they show up on time and play the full sixty, the defense has been good.

The asset is the cap room. Gardiner goes, that's four million in cap room.

That whole "you must get a couple picks for them" narrative is dumb.

You're not getting much for Gardiner as a rental, having Gardiner in the playoffs is more important.

On the aggregate, the defense has been good, Boston has not gotten more scoring chances than the Leafs.

The Leafs just aren't burying their chances.

It's the choking offense which has been their undoing so far.

Then get someone to choke who isn't going to age out by the end of his contract, or trade Nylander and try to win now. Fence straddling is worst of both worlds. You want cap room? Gotta trade one of them, Tavares or Nylander, make a decision. Long-term build with long window, or short term window to win now and rebuild around Marner, Matthews, Rielly and Andersen after that.

Name one team which has traded a pending UFA defensemen when they are contending?

You don't trade defensemen away when you're going to playoffs.

You sound like an idiot Leaf fan with this stupid shit.
