The EPA is an unnecessary part of the ever expanding federal government. You can pass legislation without an Orwellian unnacountable federal agency.

Another interesting Trump tweet. A thing really to consider, even if there are the F-35 supporters here. At least he's getting some contractors a bit nervous...

Yep, for that we have to blame corruption at the state and local level. An example of how regulation failed.Okeefenokee wrote:EPA didn't keep lead out of the water in Flint.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Yeah, like that pesky EPA. No doubt. But how many other disasters were prevented successfully? That number is not small.de officiis wrote:Yep, for that we have to blame corruption at the state and local level. The EPA is great. its recommendations are largely conservative and intervention only occurs in the case of gross public health hazards. Its budget is minuscule. It is neither a symptom of sprawling government (EPA guidelines are subject to state implementation) nor a group of freewheeling chicken-littles.

Grants allow states to deal with externalities that businesses would otherwise have to either litigate/lobby away or deal with.
The one resource we have which will always be ours so long as our nation remains sovereign is our environment. We are so far from having onerous regulation with the EPA that the little good they do is worth it given the lasting effects of the bad things private interests do in keeping with their financial responsibilities.
I never really plan on leaving the country, because that's cowardice, but the country can be made unlivable. I'd rather not compete with China if this:
... is the result of competition.

Trump can't really do anything with requesting/changing contracts. It's all up to Congress.

True, but with a majority in both sections of congress, it may not be too hard to imagine them doing so.Penner wrote:ssu wrote:Another interesting Trump tweet. A thing really to consider, even if there are the F-35 supporters here. At least he's getting some contractors a bit nervous...
