Doesn't seem possible for a wet start plume on McCain's A-4 to have effected the zuni rocket launcher on the F-4, since McCain's engine nozzle was pointed out to sea, and the F-4 was on the opposite side of the deck with its nose pointed towards McCain's A-4, there's no way for exhuast gasses from McCain's jet to have reached the zuni rocket pod on the F-4.

Well, there's another flaw, because the supposed testimony of the "Captain of the Forrestal" posted by STA states that the fire occured "near the fantail", which is at the very stern of the carrier, when the fire actually occured at the totally opposite end of the ship, at the bow, so not very believable that said claim is actually being made by the Captain of the Forrestal, since he would know where the fire was, and that it was at the opposite end of the ship from the fantail.

Well, that's what the Navy concluded. The part that a lot of people take exception to is that it "just happened for some unknown reason". The reason is pretty obvious.



Go back and look at the footage:




Those two A-4 were parked in front of the two F-4. You can see the rocket from the F-4 hit McCain's bird and start the fire.

Flight crew testified that he deliberately wet started his bird to shake up the F-4 pilot, and that triggered the rocket.

Uh... yeah, they actually did. They concluded that the jet just happened to wet start, and the flame caused that rocket to launch back into the aircraft with the original wet start, which started a fire, and the rest is history.

You can fucking see it in the very video you linked. Look at the smoke billowing back McCain's bird into those F-4 parked behind him.
