Wait, WTF is going on here?
Anthony Scaramucci deletes tweets that could be ‘distraction’ for White House
“Full transparency: I'm deleting old tweets,” Scaramucci tweeted. “Past views evolved & shouldn't be a distraction. I serve @POTUS agenda & that's all that matters.”
"That's all that matters" ???

He's being hired as a representative, wouldn't the views of who is representing be what is relevant?

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
I know anything we discussed pre-election was on the DCF so that thread is likely lost, but is there anywhere else this issue has been discussed? Is there any precedent for a president pardoning himself? Why wouldn't Nixon have given himself a full pardon for any crimes he may or may not have committed, and continued along with his day? I glanced at the relevant constitutional clause yesterday and it mentioned full presidential power to pardon except in cases of impeachment. I know that is very specific language but to me it would imply that in cases where the president is on trial his powers do not apply to himself, what other cases would the president need to pardon himself besides impeachment? Based on my 5 minutes of e-research I would think he doesn't have that power but I'm willing to be proven wrong, y'all lawyery types are more informed on the matter than I amFife wrote:Yes.
We had some discussion on the issue before the election. Some whacko was predicting that Billary's first act in office would be to pardon herself, Huma, and Chelsea.
Personally I do not want the executive to be able to pardon him or herself, they're powerful enough already, being able to pardon themselves brings a whole new meaning to that phrase if the president does it it's not illegal. New to me atleast

It's never been attempted before. With Nixon, the fix was in, given that he had some control of how his resignation would spool out.
There was a good deal of commentary on the topic when it looked like Billary had the election in the bag.

The Vox types are taking the bait from the WH now, it seems. Here's a link with some links: https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/270797/
Drafting oversight, or intentionally granted to the Exec?

Interesting, I feel more informed on the issue now, thanks. Still seems a little murky but obviously impeachment would be the full stop answer to the pardoning question. I would hope Republicans have the stones to impeach if something devious does indeed come out of this Russian fiasco.

The partisan divide is such, that no amount of outrageous behavior would make them sack their own, other than directly going against the party.pineapplemike wrote:Interesting, I feel more informed on the issue now, thanks. The partisan divide is such, that no lack of evidence of criminality is too little to realize they're a bunch of raving loons.
