Well, try raising a family on the West Coast and you'll feel the sweet reprieve that a single election can offer. I still have to read anti-Trump emails coming down from high management at work. I still have to repeatedly explain that I wear a bolo tie because my roots are in New Mexico, not because I'm part of a "crazy militia". I still overhear co-workers openly dissing old white guys like it ain't no thing (and it's not, but we all know how dire of an offense it would be to diss any other demographic) . . . but that's because of my location.

For the last eight years though, the whole damn country was trending in this direction.

It had become extremely popular to openly loathe America (we're not exceptional, we suck), to openly disparage innovation and drive (you didn't build that), to openly harass white folks just for being white (privilege, patriarchy), to maintain "wrongthink" history (Rebel flag, Confederate statues), to support the military (Manning is a hero, bring Bergdahl's dad up here to shout Arabic near the prez), etc. It was getting bad, man. Hostile.

Not just hostile as in a bunch of purple haired-lesbians screaming crazy shit at you on the internet all the time, but from the administration to Silicon Valley, to the media, to the NFL - shit was just constantly one-sided, anti-American, anti-meritocracy, anti-white, anti-capitalist, and hostile. Still is hostile, but at least it's not a shut out anymore.
Just because of that one election, though.

And you're right, we may put Elizabeth Warren in the White House next time and it's gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuuuck to be a proud, white, hard working, family-oriented, middle class American. Ah well. Thems the breaks. But one election can make a difference.

I remember stories from the past where people would speak of the great tree in the yard that their grandfather planted generations earlier. It takes that kind of mentality. I've done jungle warfare training in Belize, with some of the deadliest snakes in the world, Fer de Lance, Eyelash Viper, Mexican Moccasin; never bothered me, I ain't scared of no snakes. Snakes are not aggressive and they don't predate humans by nature, if you don't bother them they wont bother you, in the USA, you are 1000 times more likely to be attacked by a family dog than you are by a snake, 10 times more likely to die from a dog bite than a snake bite
