Nice in theory, but it doesn't work. If it did, we'd be in a much different spot right now, amiright, Ronald Reagan?StCapps wrote:Sure but the solution is not to take from the rich, it's to increase the opportunity for people of all classes to get rich, if they earn it. The best way to do that is not punish the rich, we want to incentive people to earn, not penalize it. Redistribution isn't the best way to do things.Kath wrote:The problem is the bottom boats are not rising. The 1% have had triple digit increases since the Reagan years, but the middle class and poor class have not. Rising water may lift all boats, but rising profits doesn't lift all people.

Re: Tax Plan For Aristocracy
Wrong. You act like because Reagan/Bush era trickle down economics don't work to reduce income inequality, that the only solution is redistribution? What makes you think I'm promoting the Reagan era trickle down anyway? Why you going back to putting words in my mouth? What happened to the truce?Kath wrote:Nice in theory, but it doesn't work. In the 10 or so years you've known me, when have I ever argued for wealth redistribution? Sometimes it's as if you have no idea where I stand on things. No wonder you argue against positions I don't have.StCapps wrote:Wrong. You act like because trickle down economics don't work to reduce income inequality that the only solution is redistrubution? Do you have a position? I'm not hearing one other than ankle biting the remarks of anyone questioning how optimal taxing the rich is when it comes to uplifting the lower and middle classes, and characterizing their position inaccurately for an easy target to argue against.Kath wrote:In the 10 or so years you've known me, when have I ever argued for wealth redistribution? I don't claim to have the answers, Capp. I can recognize a problem, though. There's absolutely no way that lowering taxes for the rich while raising taxes on the lower and middle classes makes sense to anyone except the people who will get the tax cuts.StCapps wrote:Do you have a position? Well yeah obviously taxing the upper class less and lower and middle classes more is terrible solution that will create more inequality, everyone knows that. However there are some taxes that need to be lowered that effect the upper class, and keeping them high is of no help to anyone, the corporate tax rate for example.Kath wrote:I don't claim to have the answers, Capp. I can recognize a problem, though. Ahem. I'll just leave the OP right here and you'll see what I'm arguing against.StCapps wrote:Well yeah obviously taxing the rich less and lower and middle classes more is terrible solution that will create more inequality, everyone knows that.

Talk about the power of the aristocracy: the poorest & Middle Class have their taxes INCREASED while the 1% establish dynasties.

Re: Tax Plan For Aristocracy
Which part of Trump's plan do you have a beef with? I've already pointed out how inheritance taxes are stupid, and it's obvious the corporate tax rate is way too high, what specifically don't you like about the Trump Tax Plan? Raising the lowest tax bracket is obviously dumb, anything else though?Kath wrote:Ahem. Taxes rich people less and poor people more, but other than that, it's a pretty good plan.
